License To Wait

April 20th, 2006 at 06:23am Michael Conniff 2

Got time on your hands? Go get your license renewed. Or try to get a new one. That’s what I did yesterday in Glenwood Springs. The Colorado Department of Motor Vehicles is in the old mall on the opposite end from K-Mart, across the highway from the big box stores. When I got there they were now-serving number 1. So I went to the bathroom. It was broken because of no water. Two men who were trying to fix it chased me out of there. Only one of them spoke English. I went all the way to the farthest corner of the mall away from license removal to where the K-Mart stands as the anchor tenant. The bathroom there is as far away from the department of motor vehicles as you can get. The bathroom was dirty, just this side of being a sty, and the K-Mart had just opened. I finished my business and went all they way back to the other far end of the mall to get my new license. I had been gone about fifteen minutes. They were now-serving number 2
