The Right Isn't right

October 27th, 2006 at 11:58pm B Jon Traylor 199

Once again, Rush Limbaugh makes me want to circle the wagons, go homestead to homestead, gather up everyone and their dog, and head to his EIB Network Headquarters in NYC with a rambunctious posse of ordinary, patriotic, hardworking Americans and 'tar and feather' his entire self-serving, America-splitting, self serving right wing empire!

I wonder why I continually subject myself to this completely arrogant, insensitive, pompous jerk.  Half of his remarks are tasteless, inconsiderate and uncalled for.  Perhaps, as a true moderate, I listen in to his show long enough to be reminded of why I'm grateful to be who I am, an independent moderate, patriot -- one like most of us in grassroots America, who is seeking the real truth.

Earlier this week, in response to an ad spot for Missouri Democrat Claire McCaskill, who is running against incumbent Republican Senator James M. Talent, Limbaugh speculated on air, and online via webcam live streaming, "Fox either did not take his medication, or he is obviously acting."  Rush goes on to ellaborate further (as he performs his own insensitively humerous rendition of Fox on the ad)... "Mr. Fox is exaggerating the effects of the disease.  He's moving all around and shaking, and its obviously purely an act... and this is shameless of Micheal J. Fox."

If you've seen the ad, you'll notice Fox's torso and limbs gyrating uncontrollably as he says, "What you do in Missouri matters to millions of Americans... Americans like me."

Yet, according to Limbaugh, Americans like Michael J. Fox are apparently liars, not to mention hypochondriacs.  As Rush sees it, Fox, who has publicly battled Parkinson's disease since 1998, is clearly playing up to his affliction for "dramatic effect."

When I listened to Rush's show a few days ago, I actually wanted to puke.  I actually pulled the service van over to the side of the road, and tried to come to grips with what I was hearing.  Then, later that evening, I downloaded his recorded live streaming webcam broadcast.  Honestly, I wanted to punch the monitor as I saw Rush do his own overly exasberated mimic of Fox's disease inflicted symtoms.  Once again, what a completely insensitive, pompous, arrogant jerk. God forgive me for saying this, but Rush Limbaugh is truly a complete idiot.

Then, the following evening, last night, I watched Katie Curic's interview with Fox on the CBS Evening News.  I was floored.  Later that night, I went online and downloaded the entire interview with Michael J. Fox.  It honestly reduced me to tears.  I truly had no idea just how progressed Fox's Parkinson's disease had become.  Not only from his physical appearance, but also from his eloquent, yet shaky words, I was moved beyond words as his incredible bravery and courage stood for not only himself and his horrible disease, but for millions of Americans who suffer from incurable diseases that stem cell research could help to cure.

The most current statistics from the CDC show that at least 100 million Americans either know, experience personally, or love and care for those with incurable diseases... ALS, Hodgkins, Parkinsons, Juvenile On-Set Type I Diabetes, and many more etc, etc.

I don't care if you are Red or Blue.  I don't give a flying flip if you are Republican or Democrat.  I could care less if you are a Baptist, Methodist, Catholic, Muslim, Jew, Hindu, etc, etc.  Why can't we just all agree that we have a very real opportunity here to tap into the scientific options on the table.  Via science, we have the opportunity to turn the tide on incurable diseases.

I'm not a Republican neoconservative evangelical (thanks Karl Rove for helping create that stereotype)....  yet, I am a Christian.  I believe in God, and I believe in his son, the Messiah and God's reason for offering him upon us for slaughter.  I think God gives us intellectual abilities to help ourselves.  I think God rejoices in the correct choices we make, and rewards us accordingly.  I think God will be proud of His creation when we choose to do the right thing, based upon scientific abilities He has given us to utilize and choose and implement for the betterment of all mankind.

As Micheal J. Fox states on his CBS interview, "this is not about Democrats or Republicans.  This is about claiming our place as the scientific leader in scientific research and moving forward and helping our citizens.  That's all it is.  It's that simple.

(for further examination... go online and research all that other countries in our world are doing above and beyond what we have limited ourselve in doing!  We are not only missing the boat.... we because of our system, (thanks Limbaugh), are not able to be leaders in the world on somthing as important and necessary as something as needed and humane and humanistically and even Godly as this!

There is a blatant difference between embryonic stem cell research and stem cell research.  I urge, as does Mr. Fox, for all uf us to support and play the cards we have on the table.  Stem cell research can and will help mankind.

We all know Rush is an idiot. Even staunch conservatives don't fall for his constant stream of crap.

I agree that there is a big difference between emryonic stem cell research and the rest of the stem cell research. none of this research is banned by the federal goverment or, more precisely, by President Bush.

The fact that the federal government will not fund embryonic stem cell research is not a ban on that research and any scientist or pharmaceutical company can do as much of it as they please in this country or abroad.

The true debate should be over whether the adult stem cell samples are yielding better results and showing more promise that the embryonic stem cell ones. Pharma companies are big business and they will put there enormous money into whatever research shows the most promise.

critics of the president tend to bunch all stem cell research into one bundle and suggest the current chief executive is opposed to it. rubbish. the current president is opposed only to the federal government using taxpayers money to fund stem cell research on embryonically obtained cell matter. the fact that the motivation for this limited prohibition is based on a religiously-oriented belief is open to criticism, but let's keep the debate honest and not suggest that the president is opposed to scientific research on principle.

Actually huntercreek, this president has been the worst president when it comes to funding real scientific research.

    Check it out ....
