TRTC’s Literary Night – Join us for a “Cup of KAFKA”
Thunder River Theatre Company is presenting the first of many free Literary Nights that will be performed over the year as part of TRTC’s 2006-2007 Season. For the first of the series, TRTC actors will be doing readings from several Franz Kafka stories and sharing biographical and historical facts about Kafka, a European literary giant, who wrote Metamorphasis, Josephine the Folksinger, The Trial and many more.
W.H. Auden said, “The author who comes nearest to bearing the same kind of relation to our age as Dante, Shakespeare and Goethe bore to theirs…Kafka is important to us because his predicament is the predicament of modern man.” Kafka’s writings exist today despite his instructions that his writings be destroyed upon his death from tuberculosis in 1924.
The first Literary Night is Nov. 10 at 7 p.m. at TRTC’s new Thunder River Theatre in downtown Carbondale. Located at 67 Promenade (the new red brick walkway), which is one half block off of Main Street and a short walk from anywhere in the downtown area. Mark your calendars for this event!
