Even though you didn’t vote for Rick Magnuson for Sheriff, I think he still won!

I have lived in this valley for 14 years now and NOT ONCE have I heard a peep out of the Pitkin County Sheriff’s Office or from Bob Braudis himself in commercial or newsprint form about the dangers of drug use, proactively having officers at our schools, community policing, etc. To my utmost surprise the other morning while listening to the Con Games show on KNFO, but what do I hear? It is a commercial for Tipsy Taxi and the talking head is none other than our current and newly re-elected Sheriff, Bob Braudis. Yes indeed, our Sheriff that we haven’t heard a thing from in 20 years has a voice. He is actually promoting a different way to get home if you’ve been out on the town tying one on. What a revelation. Rick Magnuson has not only gotten our Sheriff to think, but to act on some of the issues that were actually being addressed in the campaign. This is big step forward because as a community we win and for Rick, a personal thanks for getting our current administration to act out on our behalf. I was fortunate enough to run into Rick on election day and have a chat with him. He knew he had no chance after our local fishwraps ran those articles about his art, etc. and essentially railroading his chances. However, the conclusion I garnered was that if he could get Bob to act on some of the things he brought up in the campaign, we all win. I think this is a good start and we should thank Rick for making that happen. So even if you didn’t vote for Rick, he sent his message to Bob and Bob has acted. Thanks Rick, you win.

Tipsy Taxi ads have run in print and on radio for quite some time now (years) on a pretty regular basis for what its worth......

bald bobby: you need to know that the Tipsy Taxi program is spearheaded by Deputy Ellen Anderson of the PCSO. I assume Rick Magnuson supports the program and I do not remember it being an issue at all in the campaign.

Both the Sheriff and especially Deputy Ellen Anderson deserve a lot of credit for their efforts finto this program that they have supported for years and years.

maybe there are aspects of the campaign dialogue that will shape the direction of the PCSO in the future. i thought the campaigns were great and the people clearly have spoken. However, the sheriff's absolute support for Tipsy Taxi has been there from the start and had nothing to do with Rick Magnuson running for sheriff....nothing at all.

Of course the Sheriff has supported this...how else would he have gotten home all these years? : )
