Don't Tell Anyone Jimmy Buffet Is Back In Town

November 28th, 2006 at 05:17am Michael Conniff 2

ASPEN, COLORADO (Post Time News)--Belly Up Aspen announced Jimmy Buffet is coming back to town for a concert December 22, 2006, at 9 PM.

That's not exactly true. Belly Up Aspen (970-544-9800)   actually announced Freddy and the Fishsticks are coming back to town for the show. So why can a band you never heard of charge $250 for general admission and $600 for reserved seating? Because Freddy, as every Aspenite knows, is actually Jimmy. The open secret in town is that the pope of Margaritaville likes it to be fishy when he appears locally.

"If you were at a previous show, you know what you are in for," according to the club. "If not, ask around; you don't want to miss this one."

The catch is you have to be a member of the Belly Up club to buy a ticket starting at noon November 30, 2006--and you have to buy the tickets online. General admission and minimal reserved seating are available, though tickets will be limited to four per order.

Buffet was on "60 Minutes" in recent weeks in a tribute to his close friend Ed Bradley, the late broadcaster, of Woody Creek.

It strikes me as unusual that the tickets for this show are 250 ga and 600 reserved and it's NOT a benefit.

    Think about it.

If this show was a benefit for a local charity, or a charity that ed bradley was involved with for example, the ticket prices would be justified.

But 250/600 for a non benefit show is a little off the hook, even for aspen - don't ya think?

Hi. The Buffett show in Aspen has always been a fundraiser but I can't remember exactly what for. Something to do with ski patrol or ski school. I don't think this year will be any different.

Yeah - that's what I thought - I just wondered because there was no mention that it 's a benefit show in any of the ads.

Buffet seems like a great guy with a lot of local ties. Nothing against him here whatsoever.

    Thanks!
