WOODY CREEK, COLORADO (Post Time News)--It just sort of happened, according to the Ute City Farm Girls, a collection of a dozen "powerful" cuties who started to farm the land here in Woody Creek so as to send a message about sustainable living.
A few men came and went on the farm in Woody Creek, but in the end the group became a collection of women in their 20s, 30s, and 40s who like nothing better than to reap what they sow at the Farmer's Mariket in downtown Aspen. And there's the food, of course, and the idea of nurturing local farm fare from the first seed in the ground to the last burp at the dinner table.

I have lived in this valley for 14 years now and NOT ONCE have I heard a peep out of the Pitkin County Sheriff’s Office or from Bob Braudis himself in commercial or newsprint form about the dangers of drug use, proactively having officers at our schools, community policing, etc. To my utmost surprise the other morning while listening to the Con Games show on KNFO, but what do I hear? It is a commercial for Tipsy Taxi and the talking head is none other than our current and newly re-elected Sheriff, Bob Braudis. Yes indeed, our Sheriff that we haven’t heard a thing from in 20 years has a voice. He is actually promoting a different way to get home if you’ve been out on the town tying one on. What a revelation.

In the meantime, in-between time, ain't we got fun? In the midst of all the pissiness between the Sheriff's peeps and the Aspen Police Department perpetrators of the law, everybody and their sister missed the best part: Sheriff Bob Braudis was (once again) nowhere to be seen.
Was he in France? Or California? Or, understandably and regrettably, at the funeral of his friend Ed Bradley of CBS and Woody Creek? Whatever the reason--whatever the higher cause--the Sheriff Pitkin was demonstrably not in Pitkin County.

There's no stopping the Aspen Post community when it comes to comes to commenting about every little thing under the sun--and some BIG things.
In particular, the appearance of Auden Schendler on "Con Games" on KNFO--he's the director of environmental affairs for Aspen Skiing Company--provoked unhappy replies from Jeff and Alpha 6.

One of my friends sons was killed, a week before the other was sent -- to Iraq. It seems as though, with the recent elections, we will thankfully be withdrawing from something we can do nothing about -- changing the hearts and minds of those who hate each other even more than they hate us. That is the nature of civil war, something completely uncivil. My friends son died in this crap, a quagmire (an Arabic-Anglo word).
