GLENWOOD SPRINGS, COLORADO (Post Time News)--Crystal methamphetamine has come to the Roaring Fork Valley in a big way.
A combo platter of local and federal law enforcement officials announced Wednesday the first major drug bust for crystal meth in the Roaring Fork Valley, one with major implications for the tide of Mexican immigrants sweeping the valley.
"What we're seeing is indicative of the trend the guys who used to deal coke are now dealing coke and meth," one law enforcement official familiar with the roundup told Post Time News. "People are saying I'll take the meth. We saw meth in Rifle, Silt, and those places but we never saw it here in Basalt and in the valley."

I can live with his lack of respect for me--life, unlike an election, is not a popularity contest--but I won't easily forgive him for the disrespect he showed my audience and the process. Mick Ireland is easily the rudest person I've met since I moved to Aspen four years ago, and I have to wonder why the city seems so inclined to embrace him so.
I don't have a long list of requirements for the Mayor of Aspen, but it sure would be nice if he could at least be polite. Is that so much to ask of a man whose power emanates from the people?

The Bag Man is in big trouble, so banged up that he can barely remember what happened to Amanda Madison--the kidnpapping of the woman he loves by the dark side of the force, namely Pitkin County Sheriff Dominic Picatti. Rather than face the music, he lives for a time with the notion of death and the world beyond that he can't possibly understand. It takes Aspen Free Press reporter Skip Taylor to get Baggie to snap out of it, for God's sake.

I picked up a copy of The Aspen Times , May 24 2007 and the front page story really got me to thinking. The headline read (City hires global warming manager). It said Kimberly Peterson would be working to reduce green house gas emissions. Now this will have to be a very creative balancing act.
If the green house gasses are brought to an acceptable level Aspen will no longer need a Global warming manager. The old work your self out of a job syndrome.

On Memorial Day, 1998, Robert Garwood stood before 200,000 veterans at the Vietnam Memorial in Washington D.C. As the crowd cheered “We Love You, Bobby” he was unable to speak. Three men came forward, embraced Bobby, and with their support he regained his voice. Each of the three wore the Medal of Honor and in the silence that preceded Bobby’s words a clear voice rang from the crowd, “such men do not embrace traitors.”
Robert Garwood’s odyssey is one of the darkest in American history. In 1979, after fourteen years of brutal imprisonment in Vietnam, he rescued himself and insisted more POWs had been left behind. This created a major dilemma for our government as it had vowed years before that “there are no American POWs left behind and concealed in Vietnam” overruling families, veterans, former POWs and intelligence officials...all who steadfastly claimed evidence to the contrary.
In fact, American soldiers had been left behind.

I must be committing a crime. I am eating too well. Big brother is going to come find me and chain me to the Golden Arches any day now for getting away with such good eats. Surely little old me, part of the general public has no invitation to the decadent, fresh, top shelf, royalty reserved food chain that as I have been glutting gleefully on…
By point of fact, I wish to invite you in on my secret upper-echelon breakfast I whipped up for myself today. My entire meal, with the exception of one or two condiments and my Mochi Waffles (totally awesome, by the way) was locally grown by my neighbors, my friends and myself.

Dont get me wrong, I really like the show. I also think Michael Conniff is a very well versed comentator. I guess the thing that bugs me is when he tries to sell a point (In my opinion ) that he hasnt bought. The other morning wed. or thur. He went on and on about gays and the fact that no republican went to Jerry Farwells funeral, brought up Cheenys daughters relationship with her dad and George Bush. he never came out and set an anchor anywhere and I got lost and couldnt figure out what he was going on and on about.

Hatha yoga uses the body to access the mind. Our body is our map of our self. It tells our stories. It is practical. Tangible. Here and now. When our body aches or hurts, our entire well being is affected. Likewise, when our body feels good, when everything inside us is functioning and performing as it should be, our energy reflects that good feeling.During a Hatha yoga practice different postures are assumed. These postures allow us to use the body as a vehicle for inner exploration. In this way the practice of asana is really more like praying with the body in order to reach the Divine within. Ones practice can be an offering. A complete surrender. A moving meditation. By constantly moving in to the observer seat, one becomes the watcher, watching the process without judgement. The body is active. The brain is passive. The body does. The mind is.
Hatha yoga is the process of penetrating from the outermost sheath of the body, the skin and the physical body, deep down into the inner most core of the body, the bliss body, the divine body. Then we can pass through the porthole created in our practice, travel along this clear path and move into and out of this space at will.

Riding the bus to and from work each day, I can’t help but observe with great interest the lives of others. For me the buses act as a virtual laboratory, providing insight into the human condition. Snooping is my favorite way to pass time aboard public transport, and the buses offer up many subjects.
