A New Friend In India

I got this e-mail from an Indian girl I spoke with in the Indira Gandhi museum that I mentioned in my blog. I love it that she uses the same shorthand that American kids do and that my letter caused a "standstill in her life." I've attached their picture -- Shiuly is the tall one in the middle.

Hello
Barbara,
your letter just came in as a pleasant surprise. Hope u and your family r all doing well. I just cant express in words how much i liked it. I recieved your letter just two days b4, and i cant just count how many times i have gone through it. U look really attractive in the photograph which u had sent along with the letter. Going through ur letter, made me think as if my sisters and i r still in front of u in Delhi, talking 2 each other as long lasting friends. Hey anyways any chanches of ur coming 2 India. If at all yes, pls try 2 visit Jamshedpur, and i promise that u would have a pleasure staying here. It would prove that Dreams do come true. I could well imagine that the first snowfall, marking the start of winter made u and ur family preety excited. In India winter is just knocking at the door, yet not so excited as thier r no snowfalls here in Jamshedpur. In short, u and ur lovely letter came 2 b standstill in our life. Even in heaven one needs a companion, so promise me that u would surely b in contact whatever happens. Till then eagerly waiting 4 ur call, mail and letter.
with lots of love
Shiuly(Ratan).
