"Courage is one thing. A sense of purpose another. When you put them together in one human being, the world can be changed." John Brown, long distance touring rider
That first summer bicycle tour, I pedaled through heavy traffic for the beginning of my coast to coast bicycle adventure. The Los Angeles smog choked me for 100 miles into the Mojave Desert. After crossing the Colorado River, I breathed easier when the ‘Brown Cloud’ flowed south toward Phoenix.

As I stood in line, rummaging through my bag in an effort to scrounge up enough change to buy a cup of coffee, a story in the newspaper caught my eye. The headline read, “Study: One in five in PitCo barely making ends meet”.
My immediate reaction was to think that the study was flawed. Only one in five? It seemed like a sampling of the very coffee shop I occupied would produce a statistic closer to nine in ten. However, without having read the article - I was still trying to piece together $1.25 for a coffee - I thought that the headline could, in fact, be true, given a slight modification.

If 20 million illegal aliens returned "home," the U.S. economy would return to the rule of law. Employers would hire legal American citizens at a living wage. Everyone would pay their fair share of taxes because they wouldn't be working off the books. That would result in an additional $401 billion in IRS taxes collected annually, and an equal amount for local state and city coffers.

As with all Reid's sagacious actions as senate leader, he undermines the U.S. Constitution with every slight-of-hand in his bag of tricks. He reintroduced the spurious Dream Act S.2205 again after Americans said no four times in the past. He used Rule 14 to keep it from being debated – which would have exposed its insidious contents.

"Little Green Lies" reads the headline in BusinessWeek. "The sweet notion that making a company environmentally friendly can be not just cost-effective but profitable is going up in smoke. Meet the man wielding the torch."
The man, of course, is Auden Schendler of Aspen Skiing Company, and his remarks about whether being green really works for the resort will almost definitely raise your thermostat.

As I venture forth as one of the pioneer patients receiving human embryonic stem cell therapy I realize more and more that Dr. Geeta Shroff is at the eye of a global controversial storm and I am at the dawn of an age of discovery that will forever change the world.
Since landing on American soil two months ago, I have found myself spiraling into a whirlpool of emotion. While sometimes spinning out of control, those intense emotions collided with an influx of stem cell information causing deep anxiety on all levels. As scientists and researchers speak of worldwide collaboration in stem cell research, I have witnessed outright ridicule for those blasted as radicals experimenting with new therapies in other countries. Egos abound and I am more perplexed. I am left feeling disheartened and surprised by negative responses to what scientists deem people like me to be desperate patients in search of stem cell tourism and miraculous unsafe trea tments abroad. This world is cutthroat. I have come to understand that objective or factual science is inherently influenced by varying degrees of subjectivity or individualized opinions. Respected authorities seem to have adopted a dogmatic system of beliefs and will accept nothing but hard core scientific evidence, frowning upon those who have the courage and audacity to step out of the box and make quantum breakthroughs with clinical trials.
