No Excuses

If you live the Roaring Fork Valley, are healthy, and don’t work 100 hours a week; there is no excuse not to be fit. You have access to year-round outdoor trails for hiking, cycling, mountain biking, cross country skiing, and snow shoing. Not to mention, world class downhill skiing and snowboarding. Throw in 300 plus days of sunshine and the fact that “everyone is doing it” and there really is no viable reason why we shouldn’t be fit. Other than Domino’s and McDonald’s there really isn’t much crap around here to eat.Since I am a trainer, you may be thinking, “why is this guy writing this? Doesn’t he want out of shape people for potential clients?” Of course I enjoy helping people no matter what the case is. However, the truth is, there will always be people seeking out a trainer to take it to the next level for a variety of reasons: training for an event, look stunning for their wedding, lack motivation/knowledge to reach a goal, etc.
I put my heart and soul into my profession and will help anyone who seeks me out. But my dream is for Aspen and specifically The Aspen Club and Spa to become renown as a place where fit people come to be the best. Don’t get me wrong, we are already far ahead of the game here. This is not meant to be a rant. I just feel like sometimes we may take this place for granted. Having come from Milwaukee, Wi where you are surrounded by the picture of unhealthiness, it is easy for me to appreciate the Aspen lifestyle. If you can’t get into reasonable shape here, it is a pretty safe bet that the environment isn’t the problem.

Where you live does matter but nat as much as most people claim. What no pool, tennis courts, gym, spa, health clubs, weights, snow, sun, bosu balls, yoga and blah blah blah?? You can get up off your fat asses and roll out the door and combine calisthenics and running/walking, cost; a pair of shoes and 4.5 hours a week, on three separate days with one 2day break. This leaves you with 163.5 hours in your week to bs yourself on why you didn't add a long hike, bike, run, Xcountry ski, snowshoe or swimming session. If this doesn't work, move and live the Ethiopian lifestyle where no one complains of an underactive thyroid and "glandular issues," Your fat in this country because, by your actions you don't give a damn, which is fine, just don't complain, whine and make excuses. Personally, I will like it, if you tell me you like being fat, instead of lying to me and usually yourself, if the topic comes up. Never met Tom, but he and others can give you excellent advice, if there is something you want to achieve. You will feel better, be better and look better, all without being one of the gross looking, cosmetically manufactured queens of bits and parts, we see around here, Shelleyesque composites draped in luxuriant furs, yech! Some of the cosmetic surgery ends up looking like fillets mixed with pork chops and racks of lamb. If you must do this, think subtle 10% of what you want. Think of your inner beauty and no one will mistake that beauty and you won't attract the creepies who groove on plasticine boobs and need Mommy.
