AspenFilm's 17th Annual ShortsFest Competition Program begins this evening at 5:30 PM at Aspen's historic Wheeler Opera House. Programs one and two are today followed by programs each day concluding the competitive showcase on Saturday with program eight beginning at 9 PM. $20,000 in prize money is up for grabs and you get to vote . . . if you are there to view the short films.
Things got off to a start on Sunday with the Local Filmmakers Showcase. A free look at our growing local filmmaker's talent. Check out the list of finalists at www.aspenfilm.org.
Today began at noon with a special presentation of The Art of Watching Shorts at The Isis. I missed that having to make up for the day I missed yesterday having been "stranded" in Denver due to the mega-car pile-ups on I-70 at Vail Pass and Georgetown. Prayers go out to all those involved in those accidents. I'd loved to have been at the Isis today, if only to find out if I've been watching shorts correctly and really having the full experience available to me! I'll have to check the Cliff-notes. I'm dating myself. Do they even still publish, "Cliff-notes?"
A fine and varied program awaits us this evening followed by the, "Kick Off Your Shorts" Festival Launch Party. You are all invited, provided you have a ticket for program two which is immediately followed by the party. See you there tonight . . .
