DISCOUNT LOCAL’S PASSES FOR THE ASPEN MUSIC FESTIVAL AND SCHOOL

April 28th, 2008 at 06:28pm Post Staff 43

ASPEN, Colo. — Roaring Fork Valley residents can receive a significant discount on their Aspen Music Festival tickets this summer. The AMFS Local’s Pass offers admission to ten events for only $12.50 each ($125). The pass is fully transferable, allowing access to six concerts and four rehearsals/master classes, and is good for all events except operas, benefits, special events, house musics, films and Sunday 4 p.m. concerts.

To order before May 1, 2008, valley residents should call 970-925-9042. Beginning May 1, passes may be purchased directly at the Harris Concert Hall box office from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., seven days a week. A valid local driver’s license showing residency in the Roaring Fork Valley is required for purchase. The last day for purchase is June 13. Limit one per person.

The AMFS also brings back the Kickoff Pass, good for all regular events from the beginning of the season, June 19, through (and including) July 3. The pass is just $185 and concert options include two Friday Aspen Chamber Symphony concerts and two Sunday Aspen Festival Orchestra concerts, which include an Aspen Festival Orchestra performance with pianist Richard Goode, conducted by AMFS Music Director David Zinman, plus much, much more.

New for 2008, the Gold Season Pass ($1,250) gives unlimited access to the festival’s 350-plus regular events throughout the summer, with the added benefit of being able to reserve your seats by phone, for free, on the day of the event. This pass is an upgrade from the Full Season Pass ($975) that allows access to all regular events but does not allow seats to be reserved for free with a phone call. Instead, patrons must show up in person at the box office on the day of an event.

Children 17 and under can receive a remarkable discount with the $50 Youth Season Picture Pass, the equivalent of an adult Full Season Pass at a discount of more than 90 percent. Children 12 and under can always buy tickets for just $5. However, passes and discounts do not offer admission to special events, operas, benefits, house musics, and films.

The Aspen Music Festival and School is America ’s premier music festival, presenting more than 350 events during its nine-week summer season. The institution draws top classical musicians from around the world to this charming Colorado mountain retreat for an unparalleled combination of performances and music education. The Festival’s 58th season runs June 19 to August 17.

Passes can be purchased by phone at 970-925-9042 before May 1, or at the Harris Concert Hall box office beginning May 1.
