Hegemony (pronounced /hɨˈdʒɛməni/ (Amer.), /hɨˈɡɛməni/ (Brit.)) (Greek: ἡγεμονία hēgemonía)

    Like Language, Pronunciation is important.

    Cheers,

Not to pile on here Mike, but your pronunciation got a notice from me to. I think hegemony, the word, was introduced to the American Public by Jimmy Carter. It sent us all scrambling for our dictionaries.

Perhaps this is the reason Americans refused to re-elect him. They want a good 'ol boy you can have a beer with. Someone who'll have your back, not some sissy wedge-of-brie headed windsurfer who served with distinction.

With Scotty's new revelations, I don't believe one thing will change for this administration. It's all too circumstantial, and we're so weary of it by now, I'll bet the news cycle lasts less than a week. Cheney never writes anything down and George is smart enough to say he acted on the best intelligence available. Hell, they were smart enough to keep Powell out of the room.

And if they weren't, well where the hell is your book Colin?

When I was 18, I voted for Carter.

I don't remember Carter using the term hegemony, but I do remember in 1980 being one of the first to register with Selective Service since The Draft ended it in 1968. While I would gladly render service in defense of this country, I 'd just as sooon avoid a Carter-mandated heliicopter assault on Iran.

    Cheers,

Mike, Scott was pushed out by Josh Bolton. There's at least part of your ax to grind.
