What's the furor now?

I cannot help noticing lately how the prices on gasoline are up (WAY up!) and the usual political election year rhetoric is again escalating on how the other side is responsible for what's going on, including more major Bush-bashing. I have never been a Bush fan, but it's just getting more and more ridiculous as time goes on to the point of being ad nauseum.
The truth is that EVERY elected official occupying any office within the halls of Congress and/or the White House for the past 35 years or more is culpable for any problems we are faced with now days re: energy. Every election cycle since the early 70s has been full of rhetoric regarding conservation, exploration, alternate energy sources, etc. The problem is that to date, precious very little has been actually done by anybody!
Word to the wise? STOP THE TALKING POINTS AND ACTUALLY GET SOMETHING ACCOMPLISHED!!!
Otherwise, I am having a hell of a lot of fun watching the drama going on that some people call "Politics". Most days, I don't know whether to laugh outright or just shake my head. The only foreboding thoughts I seem to have are that to watch coverage on TV, one could get the idea that many people in this country (especially younger ones) actually seem to be taking the politicos seriously. That is starting to get a mite scary.
I may very well be a bit jaded, but I have been a registered independent for more than 30 years and I am still waiting for the partisan BS to stop. Anyone who would have asked me 30 years ago or more, my answer would have been (and was) that if there is any appropriate place at all for rabid partisan politics, it MIGHT be on the campaign trail. Maybe. It certainly doesn't belong within the halls of Congress or the White House. Congresspeople cannot and will not accomplish much of anything good for anybody until they actually figure that out for themselves.
I was considerably heartened by the immediate aftermath of September 11th, 2001, remember? Congresspeople actually got along and got some things done! Too bad that spirit of cooperation only lasted for some 45 days, if that. It's also too bad IF it takes another 9/11 for things to improve permanently. I don't wish that on anyone, but somehow, things have got to change. Perhaps I will see it during my lifetime; perhaps not.
I apologize for being offline for a few months regarding this blog - I've actually been considerably busy lately with little time online. My computer is still in storage and my online time is limited right now; limited to the hours my bank is open (I'm using their computer) which means I'm SOL if I am actually working. Things are going to be changing for the better in the near future, I am certain.
Take care. Later......
