Power to the People

June 22nd, 2008 at 09:45pm Will Kesler 366

Lies, torture, war, corruption and the subversion of our Constitution are fruits of the apathy that prevails throughout America. Last week Articles of Impeachment against Bush were introduced in Congress and hardly made a ripple in the national consciousness. Hardly a ripple even though they documented numerous constitutional violations as Bush ignored that “goddamned piece of paper.”

Our dilemma is not just that an incompetent, immoral president has assumed the role of dictator, it is that all three branches of our government are equally out of control. While we have been brainwashed into believing that our Founding Fathers crafted only three checks and balances; the executive, legislative and judicial, in reality they actually created a fourth.

The First Amendment states that Congress shall make no law abridging the right of the people to petition the government for a redress of grievances. Redress means to set right, remedy or rectify. You and I, private citizens, are the fourth check and balance incorporated into the Constitution. Power to the people.

Therefore, in accordance to the rule of law, tens of thousands of concerned citizens petitioned the President, Congress, the Department of Justice and the IRS seeking redress regarding the unconstitutional origin, operation and enforcement of the federal income tax system. The petitions cited irrefutable evidence, proving that our government has been acting in gross violation of the tax clauses of the Constitution and the essential principles upon which our nation was founded.

The petitions simply demanded answers to direct questions, yet they were ignored. We then sought remedy in our judicial system. In court our government admitted that while the people, indeed, had the right to petition, nowhere is it mandated that the government had to respond. A federal court agreed to this absurdity. We were forced to appeal to the Supreme Court. However, last February our highest court committed treason, refusing to even hear the case. Without a single comment it dismissed a lawsuit that called for a judicial declaration - for the first time in history - of the Rights of the People and the obligations of the Government under the last ten words of the First Amendment.

This tyranny cannot be allowed to stand. We will once again petition, not just to remedy the unlawful imposition of income tax, but also seven other petitions that address unconstitutionality regarding the War Powers Act re Iraq, the Federal Reserve, the Patriot Act, gun control, etc.

If these petitions are, once again, ignored Robert Schulz, chairman of the We the People Foundation will fast till death or resolution beginning Aug. 11 on the West Lawn of the Capitol. At times during his ordeal he will be joined by others under the banner of “Hungering for Redress.” These patriots will be augmented by Ron Paul’s political organization as the former presidential candidate stood behind Schulz when this plan was unveiled.

Plato insisted that the price of apathy is to be ruled by evil men. Go to: http://www.givemeliberty.org/revolution/ Inform yourself and if persuaded join the almost 100,000 citizens who have signed the petitions. Or be content to be ruled by evil men.
