Thanks for the dog's sake...

Even though I haven't felt very motivated to write a lot over the past few months, I do manage to peruse "Aspen Post" periodically. Recently, I was pleasantly surprised (and a bit chagrined) to read about the effort to better the lives of the dogs up there on the hill in Snowmass Village. Kudos to everyone involved!
When I was still in the valley, I delivered parts to Aspen Skiing Company (SkiCo) in Snowmass Village mostly everyday; sometimes multiple times per day. I am very familiar with the (at times almost blood-curdling) howling, chained up dogs and their little dog houses up there. Many times, it damn near broke my heart to witness all that and many times, I vowed to myself to say or do something to try to help them out. I am quite ashamed to admit that I usually ended up getting distracted by other things and never got around to it. Thank God someone else has done so! Just be vigilant and keep up the pressure until something is actually done. Remember that "dog" is "God" spelled backwards! And recall also that there are no accidents in this universe.
I am in NO way trying to say that animals' rights should trump those of human beings, but the reverse should also apply. After all, I like MOST animals better than I like SOME human beings! Most human beings, after all, have a great deal of control over their own destiny and karma while animals don't. They need to be respected.
