RETT Is Taking A Dive

October 3rd, 2008 at 11:24am Post Staff 43

According to Don Taylor, the Director of Finance & Administrative Services for The City of Aspen, the Real Estate Transfer Tax (RETT) revenue is dropping. "The RETT is down a lot and has been going down. It is definitely down for the third quarter. I don't have the numbers yet for September and I have not calculated the figures so you will have to wait on that," said Taylor in an interview in City Hall.

The numbers through August 2008 are down. The actual housing RETT collections year-to-date through August 2008 are $3,983,982. This a 39 percent drop below 2007's actual year to date revenues. The housing RETT revenue for 2007 was $6,560,022.
