Take Back The Streets
October 16th, 2008 at 04:02pm Post Staff 43
Since I have arrived in Aspen I have had to adjust to the way people cross the street. I am from New York and spent a lot of time in New York City. There the pedestrians own the streets and a lot of times the cars are at the mercy of the pedestrians. There is no reason it can't be the same in Aspen. So I am calling for a pedestrian revolution in Aspen and hope all who walk the streets will join me and not be a slave to the traffic lights.

Jon,
If you're going to call the locals out on street crossing, enjoy the silence. If your looking to make Aspen comport with NYC, see what stands in your way in me.
Cheers,

One of my pet peeves is the way many drivers refuse to yeild to pedestrians in this valley. I can't tell you how many times I've had fists shaken at me, been yelled at and flipped off by both left and right turners, for being in a crosswalk while the light was GREEN and I had a WALK sign! It boggles the mind why these people think they have the right of way in that situation. It just happened again last week in Glenwood Springs. One of these days it's gonna get ugly, if I can ever get my hands on one of these numbskulls.
You go Jonathan!

Sue,
Crossing Grand Avenue in Glenwood Springs is a whole lot different than crossing any street in NYC. There's really not a basis for comparison. But if you're willing to take up this torch, may it shine the candle power you have cast on the plight of Palestinians.
Cheers,
