Don’t Believe A Word Marilyn Says (!!!)
November 12th, 2008 at 07:53pm Post Staff 43
Citizen attack dog Marilyn Marks found herself in hot water again this week when Brent Gardner-Smith of the Aspen Daily News reported the millionairess know-it-all—and self-appointed guardian of the public coffers—was found to be in arrears on a property tax bill yet initially denied she was at fault.
At first Marks blamed the embarrassing snafu on her mortgage company. http://www.aspendailynews.com/section/home/130469
“But when it was later brought to Marks’ attention that she had personally written two previous checks for the Homestake Drive property tax bills dating back to 2007,” Gardner-Smith reports, “and that a mortgage company had not been involved, Marks blamed the late payments on her lack of administrative diligence regarding her personal finances.”
“Somehow,” she told the paper in an email, “I either lost or didn’t get the County notice — probably lost (???) — if you saw my desk (!!!), that is highly likely!!”
The irony was not lost on Gardner-Smith: the absurdity that a citizen advocating accountability in city government is actually one who can’t keep track of her own finances.
“I don’t have a staff whose job it is to do this,” Marks told Gardner-Smith. “The city does. I do expect more of the government when they have many staffers hired to stay on top of administrative details. And they are dealing with the public’s money.”
After arriving on the local scene with a bang—both fighting Ordinance 30 and uncovering the Burlingame brochure discrepancies—the never-silent Marks has petered out into complaining and kvetching over anything and everything. Now she has some explaining to do about why Aspen should believe a watchdog who can’t keep watch on her own personal life.

Hey Mitch,
What's that one rule of Aspen Post again? Oh, it's malleable, you say?
2. Mitch Mulhall | November 12th, 2008 at 11:03 pm
Rat,
What rule? You mean, "Don't get personal?"
You read Aspen Post more than your billable hours reflect, but apparently not enough to recognize Michael's prose. Had I a choice, you think I'd link like that?
I think the gloves have come off. Seek solace in not having stuck your neck out in this. It may get bloody.
Cheers,

Yes, that's the rule Mitch! I recognize the prose--I just don't address the author anymore. I've already stuck my neck out. This morning was appalling, and judging by this post, a day-long "cool-off" period is inadequate for Irish blood. Ho hum, hypocrisy, yadda, yadda, I've said it all before....
By the way, I learned "Hook" on the guitar thanks to the YouTube video you posted a while back. Don't say you never made a difference in my life.

Hook...
That's OK. In the interest of balance:
I believe in everything; nothing is sacred, I believe in nothing; everything is sacred, …Ha Ha Ho Ho Hee Hee....
Cheers,

That's hilarious on so many levels, all of which will be discussed next time we have lunch.

I thought you'd enjoy that...

The Rat is back to come to the defense of a woman he doesn't even know!
Perhaps said Rat will also come clean--it was you, wasn't it, oh Wharfish One--who keeps dumping on Aspen Post but can't find a better local blog anywhere in the country, despite his claims.
Now that you're back, I hope you'll clean up that particular mess.
As for name-calling, I just called you Rat didn't I?
Best, Michael!

Mitch:
Judging the blog based on the radio show is a non seqitor.
I went almost two months writing twice and Aspen Post numbers jumped. Aspen Post no longer needs me on a daily basis and i'm overjoyed by that.
The blog belongs to the blogger, not the editor, and it comes down to what they make of it.
Best, Michael!

I-Con,
I don't really care if you try to make this about me. I'm not the one who made an ass out of himself with an hour-long lunatic tirade on the radio, followed up with an equally shoddy written commentary falsely accusing someone of being a liar.
I would like to know two basic things, however:
1. Where exactly on this blog does Marilyn Marks rant against you?
2. Why are you unwilling to tell your listeners that you misquoted Paul Menter and inform them that the shoddy journalism that accompanied it was the basis for the comments posted by Ms. Marks?
I know that no answers to those questions are forthcoming, because you are a person of misdirection and lack of substance. Over the past couple years, you have had ample opportunities to respond to my arguments substantively--instead, you always avoid a reponse other than your patented condescending jabs.
Just keep living in your little dream world where you can rip on others while pretending to be too majestic to touch. People eventually see through that, as I have.

[Judging the blog based on the radio show is a non seqitor.]
Apart from my selection of that Neil Diamond tune, I don't recall making a judgment in this thread, but I'd agree that such a judgment would constitute a non seqitor. That said, homines libenter quod volunt credunt.
Cheers,

Golly, Rat!
Is calling someone as "ass" name-calling? Or just a term of affection in Rat World?
Love, Michael!

I-Con,
Once again, you have proven to be a master debater. By the way, I noticed another interviewee wrote a letter to the editor of the Daily News stating he was misquoted by F.A.I.R. Keep up the outstanding journalism!
I can't wait to read the "unbiased, factual" piece you wrote on Marilyn Marks. In the meantime, keep up with the personal attacks--very objective!
