Yes Rush Limbaugh imagines himself as some sort of patriot, I think, I guess, but maybe the definition of Patriot is simply subjective whimsy. Obviously as a conceptually constricted conservative, Limbaugh can have only extremely limited clues about how liberals think — at least this one. I hoped and hoped his hero, Bush the younger, would make a good strategic decision on anything, a brilliant tactical move on something, and because I actually did something nearly all conservatives never do, which is to actually look at the record as it happened, found a pearl in the Bush record — AIDS relief and medical support in Africa. This exception proves the rule about Bush the younger’s catastrophic dismal record, not about the due diligence of liberals who look for the good in any plan. Bush was given his chance, and while disagreed with by liberals, this liberal at least hoped for the good of America that he would have succeeded, during his mal-administration. This is in marked contrast to Republicans in general. This liberal can find good things in almost any type of ideology, even if the ideology is crap, from fascism to communism and capitalism. 

In fact it is time to ask yet again what is the modern definition of conservative? Surely it can’t include claiming the idea of fiscal responsibility without an eight year record branding the claim hypocracy. The fiscally responsible Republican as a conceptual term is truly mutually exclusive, except when convenient, which occurs when a Democrat is in the oval office. This term can be filed in the extinct column, under Raphus cucullatus, the Dodo Bird.

Republicans can be counted on to pray with bibles and flag waving for the the failure of America, because they are willing to impale America on the rhetoric of some pure ideology of functional incoherence, which when in practice has proven to be whimsical nonsense. The reason I say this so easily is because; this situation for them and those who support that party is a question of controlling the levers of power (not some chameleoned chimera of ideology) via the party leaders they worship. If that was or would be good for America, it is a simple accident.
