Part of the problem is the acceptance of converting wealth and quality of life into currency. Currency as a form of IOU, has led to profligate overconsumption and attendant waste, by the West and indutrialized as well as post industrial nations -- especially the United States. It is easier to turn a redwood tree into toothpicks and then dollars, than the other way around.
Everywhere I see lawn grass, I can envision dandelions for salad and other non or low maintenance edible landscapes. Even though all can be fed if a little common sense were used, that doesn't mean population shouldn't be reduced via lower birth rates.

TASTECASTING™ is launching an Aspen Tasting Team creating a unique way to market food and drink establishments using various social media platforms to promote local restaurants. The idea combines great people and good food to benefit the many food and drink establishments in our area. TasteCasting is a group of socially networked people that enjoy connecting and meeting with others over food and drink. Team members taste, tweet, and then repeat, broadcasting the experience across their social media platforms, blogs, Twitter, You Tube, Facebook and Flickr. Currently there is no charge to restaurants and there is no compensation for tasters, yes, it is a free for all.
EatAspen.com is organizing the team and we want you in on it. Join the Tasting Team or showcase your restaurant, tweet @eatingAspen , email EatAspen or ring (970) 948-4349

"Ohm, ohm, diversity is not our strength. Ohm, ohm. La diversidad no es fuerza. Ohm, ohm. Too much diversity is distructive. Ohm, ohm. Celebrate homogenity."
The FBI now acknowledges the U.S. is occupied by a disparate standing army of 1,000,000 thugs, punks and gangsters. “Criminal gangs,” the feds say, “commit as much as 80 percent of the crime in many communities…throughout the nation. Typical gang-related crimes include alien smuggling, armed robbery, assault, auto theft, drug trafficking, extortion, fraud, home invasions, identity theft, murder, and weapons trafficking.

Here we are on Memorial Day, honoring our fallen fellow citizens.
The Selective Service requires all males 18-25, including illegal aliens, to register with Selective Service. Failure to do so could bring a fine of as much as $200,000 and/or five years in prison. In 1999 I wrote the then-head of the Selective Service, one Gil Coronado, and I asked him how many American citizens have been prosecuted for not registering. He wrote back the some 25 citizens had been prosecuted. I also asked how many illegal males, 18-25, had been prosecuted, since millions of male illegals fit that age category. Mr. Coronado wrote that no illegals had been prosecuted for failure to comply with the law. I then asked him how that could possibly be? His response was, essentially, we don’t care.
Folks, we live under a two-tiered system of governance, where illegal aliens suck off the system while citizens die supporting that system. There outta be a law.

The United States gallops headlong into its greatest crisis early in the 21st century. At current growth rates, America expects to add 100 million people by 2035—a mere 26 years from now. Ironically, you hear nothing about it! Not one word from the main stream media! No alarm bells sounded by political leaders!
You might think that George Will, Jim Hoagland, Thomas Friedman, Ellen Goodman, Froma Harrop and the brilliant Kathleen Parker, all incredible national columnists would turn their mighty quills to THE greatest issue facing America and the world in the 21st century. You would expect Brian Williams, Katie Couric, Jim Lehrer and Charles Gibson to speak up. You would appreciate NPR’s Robert Siegel and Liane Hanson to ramp up the discussion. How about President Obama or any of our 50 governors? But instead, silence!
While mountains of evidence and symptoms of overpopulation erupt in TV news reports and newspapers, the general public continues its daily nonchalance with indolent disinterest. No matter how many water shortage reports, climate change indicators, mass species extinctions or air pollution stories you read about, America blissfully adds 3.2 million people annually. Another 77 million humans add themselves, net gain, to the planet annually and 1.0 billion add to the globe every 12 years.

Diversity is Our Strength
(unless you are a frequent flyer)
If you ever find yourself in the terminal situation as a passenger on an airliner on a crash trajectory, don’t waste your time saying an Act of Contrition, or making spiritual amends to any your may have harmed, or by screaming incomprehensibly, or by trying to make a last cell phone call to your loved ones.
Instead, when you look out the window knowing your body is about to create a Jackson Pollock-like impression of itself when it rudely makes contact with the ground, quietly thank the U.S. government and repeat the mantra-like, ‘Diversity is our strength.” (“La diversidad nuestra fuerza”)
Airline mechanics who can’t read English
There are more than 236 FAA-certified aircraft repair stations in Texas with…hundreds of the mechanics working in those shops do not speak English and are unable to read repair manuals for today's sophisticated aircraft.
...Now there is evidence of repair facilities hiring low-wage mechanics who can't read English….Twenty-one people were killed when U.S. Airways Express Flight 5481 crashed in Charlotte, North Carolina in 2003. You almost never will see a tornado on the western slope----but that occurred near Grand Junction yesterday about 230 in the afternoon near Mount Garfield in Mesa county----when a funnel cloud touched down in a rural area northeast of town.

When we think of living green, we think of living clean; clean air, clean water, clean environment. But those who truly want to live green must be prepared to tolerate filth.
Saving energy means sacrificing some of the modern conveniences we take for granted. Dishwashers are notorious energy and water wasters. People use them because they are more convenient and supposedly more sanitary. Sanitation be damned! Do the dishes by hand. Vacuuming once a week is a no-no. Once a month is all you need (between times, just pick up the crumbs and lint by hand). Ditto washing your car; do it by hand and no more than once a month.
