Part 3: ANCHOR BABIES–THE IRISH GOT IT RIGHT

By Frosty Wooldridge
Does this sound familiar? “Children born to foreign parents in Dublin maternity hospitals accounted for 25 per cent of total births this year,” according to Declan Keane, Master of the National Maternity Hospital.  “This number is causing major problems.”

“We were stretched last year and the situation is even worse this year,” Dr. Keane said.  “We have more and more patients and no resources to hire extra staff to look after them. That means cutting corners. If you cut corners then safety is an issue.”

“It is worth noting that very few immigrant parents are actually refugees or asylum-seekers and the majority are people who have come over here to have an Irish baby and Irish citizen,” said Dr Keane.

A member of Fianna Fail, Ireland’s Republican Party, appearing on television stating that “60% of all female asylum-seekers over the age of 16 arrive here pregnant.”

Ireland is experiencing the same abuse of their immigration laws as the U.S. The difference is they choose to do something about it. In January 2003 the Irish Supreme Court ruled in a landmark decision by a 5-2 verdict that immigrant parents of an Irish born child could be deported. This was the first reversal of Ireland’s liberal policy of granting residency and possibly citizenship to anyone who had a baby on the island, including illegal aliens. Deputy Prime Minister Mary Harney was encouraged by the courts decision, saying, “It will prevent others from coming to Ireland to abuse our asylum process on the basis that they are pregnant.”

It was common practice for non EU member nationals, mostly from Nigeria, to come to Ireland claiming political asylum. Many came pregnant. AP writer Shawn Pogatchnik writes, “While asylum applications frequently take years to complete, until now the birth of a child has resolved matters conclusively–with Irish citizenship for the infant and residency rights for the mother, usually followed by arrivals of more relatives.”

Are you getting the picture? We are not alone in this fight. This is happening to every First World nation. Ireland has become a destination country, just like America. The difference is they recognized their liberal immigration laws were being trashed and put a stop to it.

By November 2001 asylum seekers had submitted 5,247 applications asking for permission to remain in the country on the basis of parenting an Irish citizen child. In 2002 residency was granted to 4000 asylum seekers based on giving birth to an Irish child, while another 10, 462 remained outstanding. In March 2002 the government of Ireland stated it “would oppose granting residency rights to the parents of Irish-born children in two cases, and may seek a constitutional referendum to end birthright citizenship.”

They recognized the recent Supreme Court decision wasn’t working. More and more asylum seekers and illegal aliens were arriving and they were not being deported. Irish hospitals were filling up with pregnant immigrant women.

In June 2004 the Irish people took action. They voted birthright citizenship out of existence. By an overwhelming success the Citizenship Referendum passed by 79.17% Yes and 20.83% No.

The Twenty Seventh-Amendment Bill of the Irish Constitution now reads:

1. Notwithstanding any other provision of this Constitution, a person born on the island of Ireland, which includes its islands and seas, who does not have, at the time of the birth of that person, at least one parent who is an Irish citizen or entitled to be an Irish citizen is not entitled to Irish citizenship or nationality, unless provided for by law.

2. This section shall not apply to persons born before the date of the enactment of this section.

Ireland is a parliamentary democracy and they take democracy seriously. The people decided. They experienced the usual whining and complaining by liberal groups that did not want to see this referendum succeed, but they rose above it. They did the right thing for their country.  They put Ireland and its people first.

Ireland was the last of the 15 original EU countries to abolish birthright citizenship. They did not want to be seen as a back door to the European Union citizenship.  No anchor babies plague Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Italy, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Portugal, Spain, Sweden, Portugal, and the United Kingdom. The Irish got it right!

What does it mean for America with over 400,000 ‘anchor babies’ being fraudulently born in our country annually?   Do American citizens like adding not only 400,000 welfare cases but the added 300,000 mothers that go with those babies?  That’s 600,000 people sticking their straws into the public trough.  Why is it that we become responsible for this financial nightmare when we’ve got over a million homeless Americans?   How about our school systems clawing for money?  How about our millions of Americans on food stamps?  What about our Social Security system financing other countries like Mexico?  Why does our Congress condone this growing ‘anchor baby’ nightmare?   When does the insanity of this immigration nightmare end?   When will you, as an American, raise your voice?   If you’re Irish, raise your hand.  If you’re just plain disgusted, do something today.

One illegal alien and pro-anchor baby scoffed at this series:

“Mr. Frosty, the solution is simple: Whitey needs to get another job and pay more taxes. We are not going ANYWHERE. With Sotomayor ensconced in the Supreme Court, and more retirements coming, soon we will strike down all racist laws and regulations. Our Obama has promised us amnesty once he gets re-elected and has nothing to fear from the bigots and racists. You can’t blame us for procreating and gaming the system. If anyone is to blame, it is the stupid crackers who are letting us take over because they are too cowed by Political Correctness. I say this because I know that I can get away with it. Americans are the laughingstock of the world. Your fathers murdered, raped, pillaged, and plundered to build this nation on stolen lands. Isn’t it ironic that their descendants are giving away all they killed for? In the meantime, just continue forking over the tribute. We want more and more and will never be satisfied until we suck this b*tch dry!” Cordially, Subcomandante Pedro

We must ‘sour the milk.’ Bring out your points in the call:

1.    America cannot support another 100 million people added to our country in 26 years, i.e., water crisis, resource depletion, air pollution, gridlock, loss of quality of life, etc.

2.    America cannot support lawbreakers being given citizenship.

3.    America must maintain our English language as primary, period.

4.    America wants only legal immigrants who play by the rules, and speak English.

5.    America’s working poor deserve a chance at jobs taken by illegals.

6.    America already has too many people.  Support a 10 year moratorium on all immigration.

7.    Americans must maintain our high-quality public schools for our children.

8.    We can no longer tolerate 400,000 or more expensive birthright citizens (anchor babies) annually, that subtract from our own citizens.

9.    Voluntary repatriation is a great thing; Attrition through enforcement by stopping their ability to wire money home, obtain rental housing and jobs will encourage early departure.

10.   An amnesty failed in 1986 (gave more than 3 million carte blanc citizenship), and it will only be worse today.  We’re being displaced out of our jobs and out of our own country.

Call your elected leaders with relentless and never-give-up passion.

    Frosty,

I’m pretty sure it isn’t possible to be “fraudulently born.” Those babies are being actually born. Yep, real live actual babies, really being born.

Also, I’ve never been great at math so maybe you can explain to me how 300,000 mothers produce 400,000 babies annually. Are illegal immigrants bearing 100,000 sets of twins every year? And how do 300,000 mothers and 400,000 babies add up to 600,000 people?

And, can you produce the data that supports your claim that all 400,000 anchor babies and their mothers get welfare? Or is that just your assumption?

  2. infowars.com says:

    Sue, heres a little tidbit.

1 anchor baby is too many.

they want to come here, let it be the legal way, period.

and as to Frostys numbers, if your bored why dont you just prove him wrong, look it up yourself.

  3. Sue Gray says:

Frosty is the one making the outrageous claims. The burden is on him to prove them.

I just want to know where he’s getting these numbers and why they don’t add up. If I posted a blog making these kinds of grandiose statements, I certainly wouldn’t blame people for wanting to know the source of my statistics, especially if the numbers seemed suspect as they do in this case.

But what do you want to bet that if he responds at all it will be to insult my intelligence and say that I’m just too stupid to understand the danger we’re facing?

  4. Nathan in New Castle says:

Back off Sue. This blog is filed under Frosty and therefore it is a no logic zone. You are welcome to spread unwarranted fear, but please take your common sense elsewhere.

  5. infowars.com says:

The only logic that is missing is the fact that you want illegals here to rape, steal, assault and murder American citizens…

    they

Fill our jails, schools, hospitals and housing projects.

They use our resources and pollute the land and take our jobs and receive welfare as well.

They drive drunk and dont pay taxes, they deal drugs and open whore houses, they refuse to speak English and they turn nice neighborhoods into cesspools.

    http://www.rense.com/general69/spiral.htm

In Colorado’s Department of Motor Vehicles, last year, two Hispanics employees gave over 200 illegal aliens Commercial Driver’s Licenses and hundreds regular licenses. Those illegals couldn’t read a test let alone take it or pass it with their sixth grade educations in Spanish. Yet, they drove on our highways in 50,000 pound 18-wheelers running at 70 miles per hour and were implicated in over 26 crashes.

Colorado suffered three deaths by illegal aliens in the past year. Illegal drunken Mexicans killed two Americans, Justin Goodman and Dale Englerth. One Mexican shot and killed Officer Don Young in cold blood.

Colorado estimates 300,000 illegal aliens operating within its borders. They defraud the state out of millions of dollars in welfare claims, anchor babies, food stamps, assisted housing, felony crimes, drug distribution and burglaries in homes and businesses.

Bear-Stearns, report last year showed $400 billion in unpaid IRS taxes by illegal aliens annually and exposed it as the world’s second largest underground economy. Who makes up that money? You do! The report didn’t show the $60 billion in cash transfers being sent out of our country annually! While cheating, raping, stealing and killing us”they send our money back home.

Take a guess at the cost of illegal aliens in state and federal prisons annually. Try a whopping $1.6 billion to keep over 500,000 illegal aliens and legal criminal felon immigrants locked up! They equal 29 percent of all criminals in our prisons. That’s after they,ve committed crimes of rape, murders, robberies, child molestation, drug trade, sex trade and worse on our citizens.

  6. Sue Gray says:

Oh it sounds real bad when the “statistics” are all crammed together like that, but infowars, come on, that is the most useless set of statistics I’ve ever seen on Aspen Post.

Statistics are only meaningful (and barely so) when they are put in comparative context. For instance, how many illegal aliens committed crimes, drunk driving offenses, accidents, compared to U.S. citizens? Or even better, what is the percentage of illegal aliens commitiing those offenses compared to the percentage of U.S. citizens?

Of course the real numbers, which neither you nor Frosty care to look at, let alone share on Aspen Post, show that U.S. citizens commit the majority of murder, rape, drunk driving, and tax fraud in America and that an American is more likely to be victimized by a fellow American than an illegal alien.

And like I’ve said before, if you want illegal aliens to pay taxes like the rest of us, then make them legal! Make them all legal and bind them by the laws we are all bound by; minimum wage, welfare qualifications, medical aid, taxes, etc. If they all became citizens tomorrow, then there would be absolutely NO ILLEGAL ALIEN problem! Any crimes they committed would be treated just like any other crime committed by an American citizen.

After all, according to you, the problem doesn’t stem from the race or culture of illegal aliens, only the fact that they’re illegal, right?

  7. Mike McGarry says:

Well, then, how ’bout this revelation from the Federation for American Immigration Reform (FAIR) and the LA Times:

LA Times Spills the Truth About Illegal Immigration and Crime
    (http://www.steinreport.com/archives/012757.html)

An interesting statistic appeared in the LA Times concerning the incidence of illegal aliens being found in jails in the new Secure Communities program of ICE. “Nationwide, about 12% of all inmates checked were here illegally and had prior criminal convictions. Of those, about 6,700 had been convicted of violent crimes. Another roughly 60,000 had other criminal convictions.”

The significance of that statistic is that it demonstrates the disproportionate involvement of illegal and deportable aliens in crime. Of course, the share of inmates that are checked is not specified, or for that matter the story is unclear if only inmates fitting a certain profile are checked, but because illegal aliens constitute at most 4% of the population and represent 12% of inmates, they appear to be jailed about three times their share of the population.

    By Jack Martin, Research Director.

note: According to the Federal Bureau of Prisons, criminal aliens now make up nearly 30 percent of the federal prison population. The Center for Immigration Studies estimates that about 17 percent of that population are illegal aliens. And, no, they are not there because of minor immigration violations. .

It should also be understood ipso facto, most illegal aliens commit multiple misdemeanors (M) and felonies (F) by their vary illegal presence here. The short list:
    - Entering the country without authorization (M)
    - Reentering the U.S. after deportation (F)
    - Identity fraud (F)
    - Identity theft (F)
    - I-9 Form fraud (F)
    - Driving without licenses and insurance (M)
    - Social Security fraud (F)

    MM

  8. Mike McGarry says:

Oops, I forgot to short-list tax fraud (F) as one of the run-of-the-mill crimes illegals commit. Sorry. And Sue Gray should realize where she to commit these crimes, her behind would be held to answer for them. But not illegal alien, because the U.S. government has designated the the new Chosen People.

  9. Sue Gray says:

[because illegal aliens constitute at most 4% of the population and represent 12% of inmates, they appear to be jailed about three times their share of the population.]

    Mike,

Thanks for that statistic, it’s much clearer than the ones given by Frosty and infowars. But, I’m a little confused. You give me statistics showing the allegedly high rate of incarcerations of illegal aliens, then you say that they don’t have to pay for their crimes like I, an American, would because “the U.S. government has designated them the new Chosen People.” By your own statistics, it looks like their paying more than their share.

I still maintain that it isn’t race, culture, or being here illegally that leads to crime. It’s poverty. Of all prison populations, poverty is the overwhelming condition. There are a disproportionate number of blacks in prison too. And just like the Latino aliens, it isn’t because of their race or culture, it’s because they’re poor. Our prisons are full of poor people, most of whom are white American citizens.

Throughout America’s history, immigrants have been blamed for “crimes of rape, murders, robberies, child molestation, drug trade, sex trade and worse on our citizens.” But the piece of the puzzle always left out is poverty. Immigrants are usually poor. That’s why they come here, to the land of opportunity, to escape poverty. But because our society is so xenophobic, it’s difficult for immigrants to receive the opportunities that enable them to rise above poverty. Some do turn to crime. Just as some poverty stricken blacks and whites do.

The bottom line is that immigration doesn’t cause crime, poverty causes crime.

And again…if you’re worried about illegal immigrants taking advantage of the system but not paying back in, then the simple solution is to make them legal, make them part of the system, with the same requirements and responsibilities as the rest of us. That would eliminate…

    [The short list:
    - Entering the country without authorization (M)
    - Reentering the U.S. after deportation (F)
    - Identity fraud (F)
    - Identity theft (F)
    - I-9 Form fraud (F)
    - Driving without licenses and insurance (M)
    - Social Security fraud (F)]
    And tax fraud.

I ask all of you anti-immigration bloggers; why are deportation and border walls your solutions, instead of legalization?

  10. infowars.com says:

“why are deportation and border walls your solutions, instead of legalization? ”

Sue, Frosty has answered this question for us dozens and dozens and dozens of times here, if it isnt crystal clear to you, I think you have something wrong with your thinking process.

I really think this is a game for you Sue, because I dont know how you could ask this question, Frosty has been giving you the answer to this question for along time now, since his very first post.

I dont think you even read his articles, you just reply, kind of like a little kid does when hes told he cant have his 3rd ice cream cone.

I knew something wasnt right with you when you said you are for world government and world religon and end of any kind of soverignty, and now you ask this question.

are you just playing games with us?

are you bi-polar by any chance?

    go to his website http://www.frostywooldridge.com/
we just cant answer your question for the 80th time.

  11. Mike McGarry says:

“By your own statistics, it looks like their paying more than their share.”

Hardly. Except under very unusual circumstances, illegals do not get prosecuted for the crimes on the short list I provided. Before the Obama era, a typical illegal was given the opportunity to accept a “voluntary removal” from the country and avoid prosecution. In the Denver region, things go so ridiculous that U.S. citizens in custody for criminal acts caught on fast, and some claimed to be illegals so they could get that sweet get-out-of-jail-free deal. They would be transported to the other side of the border, after which they would telephone a friend here and have that friend—in one case, the crook’s own mother—bring the crook’s Colorado driver’s license to him, and he would waltz back across the U.S. border by showing his Colorado-issued ID. In the last few years ICE has been to focus almost exclusively on convicted criminal aliens who had committed very serious crimes, such as rape, murder, kidnapping and child molestation, and ICE has its hands full with these criminals. I can assure you, if you had committed ID theft and got caught, you would not have been given the option of prosecution or a vacation in Mexico.
Now the Obama administration had created a de facto amnesty for the “short list” illegals. It has rewritten the 286(g) agreement that empowers local and state police to take illegals into custody when they come across them while in the regular course of their law enforcement duties. However, under the rewritten agreement, that agreement will be canceled by the federal government unless the local or state law enforcement agency only apprehends serious convicted criminal aliens. Indeed, those law enforcements are now ordered to release from custody the short-list aliens.
So, no, they are not “paying more than their share.” Think it ain’t so? Them go ahead and commit tax fraud, or engage in ID theft, and then turn yourself in and see if you get a sweet deal or a total pass. Tell you what, I will take you Colorado driver’s license to you in Mexico, if you need me to.

  12. Sue Gray says:

infowars, regarding your comment; OK yeah overpopulation, I get it. But the whole world is experiencing overpopulation, not just the U.S. and not just because of immigration. It’s a global economy and a global ecology, and we are all affected by the number of people on the planet regardless of what side of which border they reside on.

Besides, I have yet to see any evidence of dire shortages currently in America, either food, water, natural resources, or land. So far we seem to be managing our burgeoning population rather well, especially when compared with some other countries.

That doesn’t mean it will always be so. Obviously increasing population numbers are going to bite us in the butt at some point. But I don’t understand how keeping people out of America is going to solve this crisis. The crisis will come, no matter how many of us living here are legal or not legal.

This post and many others of Frosty’s, as well as comments by you infowars and Mike McGarry frequently stray far from immigration as solely an overpopulation issue. When you put so much focus on crime, cultural degradation, and taxpayer cost, the issue doesn’t seem to be one of resource management anymore. Which is why I question not only the motives of the anti-immigration set, but their “solutions” as well.

And for the record I never said I was for world government or religion. I’m against all religion and would rather see it disappear altogether. I believe in local government, not federal or world government. I don’t believe in borders at all. Borders are a result of a primitive mindset that says; “everything on this side of this imaginary line that I just made up and drew on a piece of paper, is MINE and you need MY permission to cross it.” Borders produce arrogance, elitism, isolationism and most especially; wars.

I’ve got news for you guys; migration is a natural survival mechanism used by most mammals, including human, to assure their access to plentiful food, water, and resources. It has always been so and will always be so. Therefore anyone who attempts to stop migration with laws, walls, and guns, is fighting a losing battle with nature.

Why not look for real solutions; educational, economic and political?

  13. Sue Gray says:

    Mike,

Again, you are talking about illegal immigrants committing crimes that they would not be committing if they were here legally. All of those short list “crimes” you gave are a result of trying to live and work here illegaly.

That would all be eliminated if they were to become citizens. Then they would be subject to the same laws we are and prosecuted in the same way. So why not make them legal and give our police a chance to catch, prosecute and incarcerate the ones who commit real serious crimes?

The solution is not to try to prevent people from coming here at all, it’s to make sure that if they are living here and working here, they are made to do it within the system we have, with a social security number, tax I.D. driver’s licence, insurance, etc.

So ok ASIDE FROM the overpopulation issue, what is the reason you all don’t want them to become American citizens?

  14. Frosty Wooldridge says:

    Mike McGarry,

Are you trying to reason with Sue Gray? Is she a myth in a vacuum? For the life of me, can she reason? Some dogs chase their tails without reason until they wear themselves out. Some people suffer from bi-polar dysfunction so they cannot function, but in fact, become like a barking dog that keeps barking for no reason other than they keep barking. There’s no way to think reasonably or respond to a barking dog. If someone cannot think, they cannot reason. I fear a number of readers at Aspen Post lack cognitive learning skills. It’s dumbfounding that people cannot think, cannot reason, cannot figure 1+1=2. Cannot differentiate lawful behavior from lawless behavior! No wonder this country finds itself in such an insane situation because of such insane thinking. As the big earth rolls and we roll with it. Frosty Wooldridge

  15. Sue Gray says:

Yep, just like I thought. The only response from Frosty to my reasonable questions is a bunch of insulting crap about my intelligence.

Frosty, if you’re so goddamned smart, why won’t you answer any of my questions? Why won’t you provide your sources? Why won’t you discuss the merits of my solutions? Why?

I’ve agreed with you time and again that overpopulation is a problem, so there’s no disconnect there. We agree on that one point. My beef with you is your solution; get rid of immigration. I ask you again, how will that solve the population crisis? Americans are going to continue to reproduce and overpopulate America anyway.

And if this is all exclusively about overpopulation, why do you constantly refer to crime, destruction of American culture and language, and taxpayer burden caused by immigrants? If those are your primary concerns regarding immigration, then why isn’t the solution to legalize them and get them into our system?

Instead of responding with another tirade about my stupidity, why don’t you try answering my questions and debating your point on it’s own merits, if there are any.

  16. Frosty Wooldridge says:

Good God, I feel like I am talking to a dish rag or a blank wall! The US female has averaged 2.03 children since 1970. It’s not us overpopulating ourselves; it’s immigration both legal and illegal. The 1965 Immigration Reform Act by nit wit Teddy Kennedy cause the addition of 100 million and it will be the cause of another 100 million in 26 years if we don’t stop immigration insanity. Everything, I repeat, everything I have written is sourced, backed up by facts, and fully vetted. http://www.numbersusa.com ; http://www.cis.org ; http://www.fairus.org ; Do your homework and stop barking. Your butt and your children’s future stand in the cross hairs of a horrible future filled with water shortages, food scarcity, energy crises, climate destabilization, species extinction, lowering of quality of life and you’re asking for sources and arguing inane trivia. God help us if the rest of the USA barks like this for much longer. We need to stop all immigration because it’s killing our civilization. We cannot sustain the numbers. The world grows by 77 million annually. Somebody has got to put their foot down and this country needs to be the first. Help them in their own countries. FW

  17. Mike McGarry says:

“The bottom line is that immigration doesn’t cause crime, poverty causes crime.”

As James Q. Wilson (Crime and Human Nature) has astutely noted, poverty may contribute to crime, but how do you explain the fact that per capita serious crime actually went down and was low during the Great Depression but almost tripled during the prosperous 1960s, when unemployment rates were low, even among Blacks.

These foreign criminals aren’t Jean Valjean swiping a loaf of bread to stay alive, they are just criminals.

Please, no more suggestion that we decriminalize the crimes commited by illegals by legalizing those foreign criminals, unless you also call for the decriminalization
of all of the nonviolent crimes that U.S. citizens are sitting in jail for.

  18. Sue Gray says:

[Please, no more suggestion that we decriminalize the crimes commited by illegals by legalizing those foreign criminals, unless you also call for the decriminalization
of all of the nonviolent crimes that U.S. citizens are sitting in jail for.]

Mike, maybe you’re missing my point. I’m not calling for the decriminalization of crimes committed by illegals. I’m saying that those crimes would not be committed if immigrants were legalized. Then they would have no need to commit identity or tax fraud which they must do now in order to live and work here without being detected and sent back. The only reason they are committing those crimes on your short list is BECAUSE they are here illegally and must use fraud to hide that fact.

    Frosty,

I really don’t see the need for insulting me the way you do. Why can’t you just have a respectful conversation and answer my questions instead of barking your same old repetitious gobbledygook over and over again as if the answer is plain for all to see, when it’s not. Your propensity for mixing racial prejudice, unbridled fear, and unsubstantiated claims of cultural degradation with actual facts and data on overpopulation makes it hard for any rational person to figure out just where you’re coming from.

Are we throwing out the immigrants because we have too many people in America? Or because immigrants are ruining our culture? Or because they commit crime? Or because they’re getting a free ride on our dime? Or because you just don’t like Mexicans and Muslims?

I’ve told you umpteen times that I AGREE with you about overpopulation. I AGREE we will face “water shortages, food scarcity, energy crises, climate destabilization, species extinction, lowering of quality of life.” What I don’t agree with is your premise that halting immigration will prevent any of that. How is halting immigration to America going to prevent climate destabilization and species extinction?

In fact, since immigration is a result of people wanting to go to a better place with more resources and opportunity, when those run out in America, immigration will naturally stop. Why would they keep coming here if there’s not enough food, water and jobs for everyone?

Currently we’re seeing immigration numbers drop for that very reason, so your projected number of 100 million added Americans in 26 years just went right out the window.

It’s even possible that Americans will start emigrating from the U.S. to seek better opportunities elsewhere. I hope if that happens, they don’t run into opposition from people like you in their chosen adopted land.

  19. Nathan in New Castle says:

    Sue,
Apparently you’re too dumb to hold simple thoughts. 400,000 + 300,000 does equal 600,000 and I can prove my anti-immigration math by sending you to my anti-immigration sources. In fact, I can prove everything I say by sending you to my like-minded sources. Nobody needs to answer any of your questions; answering questions doesn’t spread fear or sell books. You need to wakeup and see that the terrorist organization, know as Latinos, are destroying America. Who care what happens to the rest of the world; I’m sure I’ll still be able to find somewhere to vacation too. LOL

At the end of all this you will see that nothing was gained. Frosty’s pride breeds a deep ignorance. Did you see the “letter” he ended this blog with? He is so far invested in his hate, he can’t even see that the response was written a honkey fan of his. And then you have his minion, Infowar.com, who is so quick to tell you that you’re not listening that he never even heard your point. He actually thinks you advocating mass immigration. Great stuff, I wish somebody else was listening.

    Mike,
Are you really going down to this level? I can’t believe you’re actually debating the crime/ poverty relation. Even the Great Depression clearly shows the link. Poverty is a comparative term and that is the way it should be seen. When everybody has nothing, crime is low because nobody is in relative poverty. If you want us to use a different word to make it less confusing, then just say so. You are too smart to spend your time debating a simple fact like the relation between poverty and crime.

  20. Mike McGarry says:

“You are too smart to spend your time debating a simple fact like the relation between poverty and crime.”

Your argument isn’t with me, it’s with the highly respected James Q. Wilson. Give him a call and tell him how you know better. Better yet, first read, as I did, his sweeping historical survey on the literature of crime, Crime and Human Nature, and then call him a good chewing out.

Meanwhile, get a load of what Ed Koch has to say:

    August 31, 2009
(for full text ,see below @*)

Ed Koch Commentary: Illegal Aliens Now in Federal and State Prisons and Municipal Jails Should Be Deported To Their Countries of Origin Immediately By Edward I Koch
I have a proposal which I hope the Obama administration will consider and implement.

Immediately or as soon as possible the United States should deport all illegal aliens who are now in our federal and state prisons, and in our municipal jails, to their countries of origin. In 2005, the Government Accountability Office (GAO) issued a report on the number of illegal aliens incarcerated in the United States. The report stated, “They were arrested for a total of about 700,000 criminal offenses, averaging about 13 offenses per illegal alien….

One arrest incident may include multiple offenses, a fact that explains why there are nearly one and half times more offenses than arrests. Almost all of these illegal aliens were arrested for more than 1 offense. Slightly more than half of the 55,322 illegal aliens had between 2 and 10 offenses…. About 15 percent were property-related offenses such as burglary, larceny-theft, motor vehicle theft and property damage. About 12 percent were for violent offenses such as murder, robbery, assault, and sex-related crimes….

According to the Colorado Alliance for Immigration Reform, “Today, criminal aliens account for about 30 percent of the inmates in federal prisons and 15-25 percent in many local jails. Incarceration costs to the taxpayers were estimated by the Justice Department in 2002 to be $891 million for federal prison inmates and $624 million for inmates in state prisons [annually].” Every year, about 600,000 of those incarcerated, not limited to illegal aliens, are released and within three years, two-thirds become recidivists and are back in prison.

My proposal would make many of these people the problems of their countries of origin.

The Honorable Edward Irving Koch served New York City as its 105th Mayor from 1978 to 1989

  21. Mike McGarry says:

Why allowing mass immigration from high fertility countries should be a no-no:

    Virginia Deane Abernethy

Vanderbilt University School of Medicine, United States

    Abstract

Stakeholders to consider when evaluating mass immigration include the immigrants themselves, various socioeconomic sectors in the receiving countries, and those remaining in the developing countries that migrants leave. This paper suggests that those remaining will be harmed because emigration stimulates fertility.

Continuing high fertility is an obstacle to the saving and investment that are needed for even modest rises in the standard of living. The fertility opportunity hypothesis, illustrated in this paper, suggests that perceptions of economic opportunity control fertility rates.

Fertility rises or stays high if people perceive that opportunity is expanding. If the emigration option creates the impression of vast opportunity, fertility is likely to stay high in countries that emigrants leave. This result is detrimental in the long run, and overwhelms the immediate benefit of remittances and opportunities enjoyed by immigrants themselves.

  22. Sue Gray says:

I did some research on my own. Here’s what I found

The top ten most dangerous neighborhoods (highest crime rate) in America are in:

    1. Chicago
    2. Detroit
    3. Orlando
    4. Cleveland
    5. Baltimore
    6. New York
    7. Tampa
    8. Philadelphia
    9. Little Rock
    10. St. Louis

    http://www.walletpop.com/insurance/most-dangerous-neighborhoods

The ten cities with the largest immigrant populations:

    1. Long Beach, CA
    2. New York
    3. Chicago
    4. Miami
    5. Houston
    6. Orange County
    7. Washington
    8. Riverside-San Bernardino
    9. San Diego
    10. Dallas

Metropolitan regions with more than 10% foreign-born residents:

    1. Miami
    2. Jersey City
    3. Long Beach
    4. San Jose
    5. New York
    6. San Francisco
    7. Orange County
    8. McAllen-Edinburg-Mission, TX
    9. Laredo, TX
    10. Salinas, CA

Hmmm…looks like immigrants aren’t the major cause of crime in America. In fact the most dangerous neighborhoods in America are predominately Black, predominately English speaking, among the poorest neighborhoods in America, with the lowest education levels.

    Then there’s this from:

Davies, G. and Fagan, J. “Does Differential Social Organization in Immigrant Neighborhoods Reduce Risks of Violent Crime? Evidence from Panel Data in New York City” Paper presented at the annual meeting of the American Society of Criminology (ASC)
    http://www.allacademic.com/meta/p_mla_apa_research_citation/1/2/6/4/6/p126468_index.html

“Analyses of panel data over 20 years from New York City neighborhoods support the proposition that higher levels of immigration is a protective factor that attenuates interpersonal violence: neighborhoods with higher concentrations of immigrants tend to have lower violence rates.”

So if you want to live in a safe neighborhood, move to one where there are alot of immigrants!

Next I’ll research the claim that immigrants are burdening our welfare system.

  23. infowars.com says:

“Hmmm…looks like immigrants aren’t the major cause of crime in America.”

Nobody is talking about immigrants but you.

All the rest of us are talking about illegals. The difference is night and day, you know that, and are trying to cloud the issue, same with when your trying to bring in the race card or poverty card….nice try “rolls eyes”

we are getting bored of the disingenuous way in which you try to defend illegals, even to the point of the out and out lying.

We have posted dozens and dozens of items that show where there are illegals there is more crime and more taxes being used to pay for welfare, food stamps, housing, schools, hospitals, prisons and infrastructure.

Call the local Sheriff, ask him how much his budget goes to dealing with illegals. Ask him what percentage of jails are used to house illegals.

Ask the schools what percentage of students do not speak or write English (it is over 10%) even after they graduate.

  24. Mike McGarry says:

    Dear Ms. Gray:
Tilt! You just got caught employing the signature slight-of-hand modus operandi (MO) of the open-borders crowd. When the subject is about illegal immigration, it gets suddenly, almost imperceptibly, switched to legal immigration.
Let me clarify. “Immigrants” are invited guests into our national home. And while it is not extensive, immigrants are subjected to criminal background checks by the FBI. So it would make sense that immigrants world have communities that would tend to be somewhat less violent that the epidemic violence taking place in some U.S. communities dominated by native-born Americans.

Illegal aliens, on the other hand, are uninvited home invaders. They are criminals by definition. Indeed, the violence perpetrated upon immigrants is more often from illegal-alien gang bangers: MS-13, the 18st Gang, Sureños, etc, ad nauseam.
The official U.S. Border Patrol guesstimate is that one out of three border crashers is caught while crossing. Border agents have told me they believe it to be closer to one out of seven-ish. Twelve percent of those intercepted at the border are serious convicted criminals.
But even using the official one-out-of-three ratio, if in any given month say, 100,000 attempted illegal crossings are stopped, that still would mean that in that month 200,000 made it into country, among those, 24,000 convicted criminals. Twenty-four thousand foreign criminal this month, 24, 000 next month, not long you be talkin’ millions, which, come to think of it….
Please, Ms Gray, no more cutesy but obvious legerdemain.

  25. Sue Gray says:

Come on you guys, the point of every anti-immigration post by Frosty Wooldridge is to call for a halt to ALL immigration, not just illegal immigration. He’s straight out said that numerous times. So I’m not “employing the signature slight-of-hand modus operandi (MO) of the open-borders crowd,” I’m on the same program as Frosty; addressing whether immigration causes more crime, cultural and educational degradation, and welfare abuse, as HE claims.

You never question his statistics, postulations or conclusions and he doesn’t even provide sources or websites for most of it like I did. He just makes statements as if they’re facts and you all fall right in line. You must all be reading from the same anti-immigration handbook.

For the record I am not “open borders” or pro-immigration. I just see things the way they are. Immigration is a fact of life, people go where there’s opportunity. It’s neither good nor bad. It just is.

So when you say you’re not against immigration, just ILLEGAL immigration, I say the solution is simple; make legal immigration easier, faster, cheaper and unlimited, so that people won’t HAVE to break the law to come here. If you’re really only against their illegality, then why don’t you take the position of giving them all amnesty?

Lastly Mr. infowars.com and Mr. McGarry, I comment on Frosty’s posts not because I champion or defend immigrants or illegals, it’s because I champion and defend humanity and I take great offense at the prejudice, bigotry, xenophobia, fearmongering, and hate that he spews on a regular basis on Aspen Post.

  26. Sue Gray says:

This from Frosty’s latest post: “Over 1.1 million illegal alien Mexicans migrate across U.S. borders annually. Another 1.2 million legal immigrants pour into America annually. Their presence fundamentally changes America’s language and culture backward toward third world conditions, i.e., crime, squalor, educational chaos, health breakdown, hopelessness, and loss of quality of life. ”

And Mike you posted: “Why allowing mass immigration from high fertility countries should be a no-no:”

I thought we were only supposed to be talking about illegal immigration!

  27. Mike McGarry says:

    Ders Ms. Gray:

My very last word on this:

ILLEGAL IMMIGRATION: A complete end to illegal immigration and remopval of all illegals currently in ther country.

LEGAL IMMIGRATION: annual legal immigration at sustainable numbers, numbers that would allow out explosive population growth to eventually stabilize. The U.S Census Bureau says that about 300,000 people permanent leave the country annually, so 300,000 total legal immigrants a year, throughly in keeping with our traditional, historical numbers. (From 1776 to 1976 we averaged 300,000 legal immigrants a year.) .

Based on the actual immigration numbers the U.S. experienced from 2000-2009, the country is now on the Census Bureau’s (high)projection trajectory for the year 2100, that is, we are now vectored to reach a population of 1.181 billion by century’s end.

Ms. Gray’s last word: “make legal immigration easier, faster, cheaper and unlimited…,” something tantamount to advocating for an unspeakable hate crime against future generation.

    And so it is.

  28. Sue Gray says:

Mike, what you propose sounds reasonable to me, but you know as well as I do that prohibition laws don’t work. Prohibiting the sale of alcohol just leads to people selling alcohol illegally. Same with pot. Same with abortion. Prohibiting people from legally coming here just leads to them coming here illegally. That’s the way it is. You can’t stop people from drinking, doing drugs, getting abortions or immigrating, whether it’s “legal” or not.

I think a saner option would be to promote economic growth in Mexico, but we can’t even promote our own economic growth. The fact is, immigration numbers will rise and fall according to economic situations in both countries. It will follow its own natural cycles.

Now if you guys want to fix this “problem,” you should be lobbying our representatives and most important; greasing their palms with the equivalent of what they’re raking in from businesses that depend on cheap immigrant labor for big profits. Maybe then you could get all these laws passed that you keep touting.

But like I said, prohibition laws don’t work anyway. They’ll still come here illegally and then it will be a law enforcement problem…pretty much like it is now.

So back again to my original proposition; make them legal. If you give amnesty to every immigrant here illegally, requiring them to register and undergo a background check, receive a SS# and National ID, then they will have to be hired at the same wage as a natural born citizen (thus eliminating the competition for jobs), they’ll have to pay taxes and be subject to the same eligibility requrements for health care as we are, etc.

If that happened, there would be alot less illegal immigration, and alot less immigration period. Plus it would take away the ability of businesses to hire cheap labor, giving all of us an equal opportunity for jobs.

I understand the overpopulation concern, but the fact is they are going to keep coming here, laws or not, so why not regulate it? Legalization and regulation are the answer, not prohibition.

    And so it is.

  29. infowars.com says:

“So back again to my original proposition; make them legal.”

    we have a process…..

they need to get in line, its just that simple

  30. Sue Gray says:

We do have a process. But the process is too long, hard and expensive. Otherwise why wouldn’t they all “get in line?” It’s not “just that simple.”

My proposal is that they do get in line, but we make the line go faster, smoother and cheaper to prevent them from getting out of line. If we need to hire more Americans to make that happen…all the better!

Once they’re citizens, they’ll be responsible for pulling their weight, paying their taxes and obeying our laws.

    What’s the problem with that?

  31. infowars.com says:

You know Sue, its sooo ironic that when you have a post about the problems in the Middle East, you insist that everyone stay on topic and not talk about the Jews or their Talmud or the Zionists, or Mossad or Mossads motto, or Religon.

It always has to be what Sue and kathren” says it has to be about (I think that is why you have so much resistance in the newspapers because of “your way or the highway” approach) yet when you debate with Frosty and company you use the Race card, the Poverty card, the red-herring card, the Immigration card.

It is you, who wont stay on topic….

Its frustrating to debate with an 8 year old girl who knows everything. and no, Im not trying to demean you, you act just like my last gfs 8 year old daughter.

If the process is to long, call your government, they will listen to the will of the people.

  32. Sue Gray says:

Hey, you’re the one getting all huffy because I don’t agree with you, Frosty and Mike’s take on immigration. Are you saying I don’t have a right to express an opinion different than yours?

I haven’t once strayed from the topic of this post, which is immigration, its causes and effects. Race and poverty are part of the immigration equation, and crime is related to poverty. Frosty is the one who focuses on race; by frequently singling out Mexicans and Muslims. A lot of other people immigrate here too, but he never mentions them.

Neither does he distinguish illegal or legal the way you and Mike do. He just doesn’t want immigrants here at all. And I suspect neither do you or Mike, but you both employ “the signature slight-of-hand modus operandi (MO)” of the closed-borders crowd; pretending it’s just illegal immigration that bothers you.

Which is why I keep asking the same question over and over again which none of you will answer honestly or thoroughly; why not just get them legally into our system? It solves all of your concerns, yet you all refuse to even consider or discuss it. Why?

I really don’t care one way or another whether immigrants come here or they don’t. I’m just so sick of reading posts and comments about the mythological boogeyman that’s ruining our society. It doesn’t exist. Immigration is not the enemy and neither are the immigrants, illegal or otherwise. It’s just a focus for people’s fears, which is what I’m trying to dispel by challenging Frosty’s hypothesis.

But if a different point of view scares you or offends you, I’ll step aside and let you all validate each other’s fear, suspicion and yes; hatred of immigrants.

  33. infowars.com says:

“I really don’t care one way or another whether immigrants come here or they don’t. I’m just so sick of reading posts and comments about the mythological boogeyman that’s ruining our society. It doesn’t exist.”
