A Toast To Betts And Scholl

Local winemakers Richard Betts and Dennis Scholl announced the merger of Betts and Scholl with Castle Brands in an email:

Dear Friends, Colleagues and Supporters,

Dennis and I are very excited to share with you some news that we could not be more pleased about. Undoubtedly many of you have already read about or heard of our merger but we wanted to send a personal note to let you know and to share our plans for the future.

We have spent the last 6 years circling the globe, making wines we love, bringing them to these shores and criss-crossing the country to share our enthusiasms with all of you. This fall we found a partner that is eager to help us further our goals of bringing world class wines - those wines with a true sense of place – to all of you. This partner is Castle Brands, a small hand-crafted spirits company that has recently redoubled its commitment including, for the first time, a dedication to sharing fine wines from around the world. What this means first and foremost is that Betts and Scholl will now have the resources and support to share our wines more widely. While this does not mean that Richard gets to get off the airplane, it does mean that it will make it easier for us to get our wines to your door. We will continue to work with all of our partners on the three continents where we make wine and, frankly, our merger should allow us to do even better work!

Then, there is the additional wrinkle where Richard will realize a long held goal of sharing many of the very special wines of other world class producers that he has befriended and found in his endless travels. We expect that very shortly we be able to share the first of these producers and their wines with you.
It is also very much our expectation that we will continue to work and thrive with our distribution, retail and restaurant partners throughout the States as well as to make our way to places where we have not yet been able to go. All in all, Dennis and I are really pleased and feeling especially honored that your support and enthusiasm for our work has brought us to this next level where we only intend to get better.
