Major Malfunction In Aspen Police Murder Investigation
November 18th, 2009 at 06:42pm Post Staff 43
Law enforcement officials in the Roaring Fork Valley are abuzz with news of the botched investigation of Aspen local Cheryl Ann Lurie, 54, the Aspen local found dead near the Pitkin County Library.
Cheryl Ann Lurie died of a “blunt force trauma to the head. The manner [of death] is undetermined,” according to the Pitkin County Coroner's Office--but the issue plaguing the investigation is the failure of Aspen Police to immediately secure the crime scene.
The scene was unsecured by Aspen Police for more than 24 hours: not until Tuesday night was the Pitkin County location treated as a true crime scene.

Considering where poor Cheryl was found how could the police think anything other then foul play! Why would they take the tape down even before the coroner's report!!!! In the meantime people had tromped all over the crime seen making new footprints in the snow etc. I pray they do her justice!
