The remodel of Aspen Highlands base area several years ago was planned to create a vibrant village—full of shops and restaurants. But the high rents kept many businesses away—and now that’s changing somewhat, as the rents are coming down. Other landlords in pricey aspen may be following the “adjustment of rents” in the upper roaring fork valley.
Tomorrow on the real estate broker’s show—a segment of local news every Tuesday morning at nine on KSNO…We’ll be talking with Bennett Bramson—a broker with Fleischer and Company in Basalt….Bramson will provide us with the latest information on the change in prices and movement for commercial properties.
The grand opening of Homes Aspen Realty will be held tomorrow night. The new office, which was renamed after a buyout of the former Remax office operated by Gwen Dickenson in downtown Aspen….will be a magnet for real estate professionals and the public—-we’ll be covering the opening to get a better gauge of what happening—and what may happen and when—in the real estate market as the local economy recovers from the downturn.
The international market is seeing a weak U.S. dollar, so more skiers and snowboarders from abroad may be appearing soon on the slopes in Aspen.
And it’s a fact; the greater distance traveled translates to more money spent by the foreign visitor. We’ll be talking soon with CEO Mike Kaplan on KSNO—as the Aspen Skiing company focuses on drawing more of that market segment for the winter of 2009-2010.
