Around Aspen: Red Brick show


In early November The Red Brick Arts Center held its second Biennial Art Show, which was juried and also featured many of the artists who have studios in the Red Brick building. The art shows there are always heavily attended and are very social with many locals and visitors admiring the works in the gallery. This year the event was sponsored by Aspen Sojourner magazine.
The AARP Magazine this month included an article and photo about Sidney Harman, who in August at the age of 91 agreed to buy Newsweek from the Washington Post Company. The article states that Harman agreed to pay the Washington Post $1 and to assume the magazine’s reported $50 million in liabilities. Harman, who is a retired stereo/hi-fi magnate, and his wife, Congresswoman Jane Harman, have an Aspen home on Red Mountain and are active with the Aspen Institute.
