CON GAMES RADIO: Con Man Clocked In Gay Marriage Debate

Matthew Staver--co-founder and dean of Liberty University School of Law--came to "Con Games" to debate gay marriage and got the better of host Michael Conniff.

CON GAMES 24/7: McClellan, NY (Heart) Gay Marriage, Code Green

The Con Man takes a swing or three at those who would take a swipe at Scot McClellan, gay marriage, and energy independence.

CON GAMES 24/7: Gay Ski Week Redux

The Con Man has a problem with someone who has a problem with him for putting his prejudices on the line in a blog from January 2008 about his reaction to Aspen Gay Ski Week--and what it all means.

CON GAMES: Conservatives Don't Care

Like most things on my show "Con Games"--including the show itself--it happened by accident. Bill Bennett, the talk show host and former Secretary of Education was nice enough to do 25 minutes live while he was in Aspen a week or so ago, and his appearance left me with another 90 minutes or so to fill. So I do what I do: I started to talk in the hopes somebody might (a) listen and might (b) call in. In the course of the usual circumlocutions, I came up with the idea of using the language against conservatives the way they use it against liberals.

I know, I know. I stand accused and probably convicted of stooping to partisan tactics. But I was doing it as "an exercise," as I stated on the air, to make a point. Now I'm beginning to think it's not an exercise at all, but central to understanding why conservatism in its existing ways, shapes, and forms is so far out in left field it's somewhere behind the Green Monster and the Citgo sign.

pigpoke or brokeback for Romney

Montana Republican Senator Larry Craig (the chairman of Mitt Romney's presidential election campaign in Montana) seeks to withdraw guilty plea for misdemeanor lewd conduct charge. Was he soliciting for some hot steamy homosexual potty sex in the public restrooms in Minneapolis MN? Could he have been set up? It is one or the other, but then why did he plead guilty?? Is it possible he was looking for evidence of Bill Clinton's sex life in the wrong gender restroom?

Don’t ask, don’t tell? Whatever you do, don't ask Mike Gravel...

I watched the Democrats debate on Logo last night. It was actually quite interesting to see how the candidates presented themselves in front an audience polarized around LGBT issues. The format of the debate was interesting, too. Rather than positioning everyone on stage and letting them field question directed by a single moderator, each candidate got a half-hour to field questions from a moderator, whose name I never picked up (Margaret Carlson?), Joe Salmonese of Human Rights Campaign, Melissa Etheridge, and Washington Post editorialist Jonathan Capehart.

Oldman Takes On Con Man

Dont get me wrong, I really like the show. I also think Michael Conniff is a very well versed comentator. I guess the thing that bugs me is when he tries to sell a point (In my opinion ) that he hasnt bought. The other morning wed. or thur. He went on and on about gays and the fact that no republican went to Jerry Farwells funeral, brought up Cheenys daughters relationship with her dad and George Bush. he never came out and set an anchor anywhere and I got lost and couldnt figure out what he was going on and on about.

CON GAMES: God Bless Jerry Falwell

Was it just me, or did a quiet come over the earth on the news that televangelist Jerry Falwell was dead?

Televangelist is a funny word, a new word, a train wreck of two word that the man who founded Liberty University and the Moral Majority helped to define. And let's give the devil his due: Reverend Falwell went to his grave with no hint of scandal, no small feat for a Bible-thumping man of the cloth living in a world of carnal depravity.

The Right Isn't right

I don't care if you are Red or Blue. I don't give a flying flip if you are Republican or Democrat. I could care less if you are a Baptist, Methodist, Catholic, Muslim, Jew, Hindu, etc, etc. Why can't we just all agree that we have a very real opportunity here to tap into the scientific options on the table. Via science, we have the opportunity to turn the tide on incurable diseases.

CON GAMES: Aspen Is So Gay!

You’ve got to love Aspen City Council, especially if you love the idea that individual citizens should have the right to sleep with whomever they choose, regardless of race, color, creed—or sexual combination.

CON GAMES: Gay Is As Gay Does In Senate

Gay marriage is so upsetting to Republicans they want to institute a Constitutional ban. Maybe they should just read Mary Cheney's new autobiography, particularly the story about how she skipped out on the 2004 State of the Union address because President George W. Bush endorsed a Constitutional ban on anything but a marriage between a man and a woman. At the risk of being called a "total slime," it's obligatory to point out that Ms. Cheney is the homosexual daughter of the Vice President of the United States, who loves her dearly.
