Welcome To The Tea Party!

"Welcome to the Tea Party, Mitch," blogs the Con Man in comment #7. "What took you so long? The wonderful thing about about apologists for racism is they can always find an example on the other side. Condi Rice? The slurs against Obama have been continuous and egregious. There's no comparison. One other thing, Mitch: how about a moratorium by conservatives like yourself when it comes to pursuing an argument by saying the other side is worse that your side. If the other side is worse, it makes your side no better."

Obama Whiteface Black-And-White

"There is practically no possibility of those in the RNC feeling 'bad' about this," writes Liberal Gladiator and Post blogger Edward Troy in comment #1 of Obama in whiteface. "The lemming legions that adore this stuff are just as unlikely to feel 'bad.' When slavery, Jim Crow segregation and discrimination are considered A OK, and ending them serious inconveniences, how or more correctly, what do we reach in these individuals. They have no moral sense of wrongness to appeal to or they are 'evil' in a classical sense. I have learned to accept this as a reality."

CON GAMES: Racist RNC Puts Obama In Whiteface

"A man in blackface in this brave new century would invoke the wrath of our culture writ large," blogs the Con Man. "When the tape of a blackfaced act originating in Australia was seen in the United States, the revulsion was immediate, calling to mind Al Jolson singing “Mammy” in blackface nearly a hundred years ago. But what about seeing a black man in whiteface? What about seeing a black President of the United States in whiteface? And what if that insult emanated not from a meaningless talent show down under but from the Republican National Committee’s (RNC) official fundraising presentation?"

CON GAMES: RNC Puts Obama In Whiteface

A man in blackface in this brave new century would invoke the wrath of our culture writ large. When the tape of a blackfaced act originating in Australia was seen in the United States, the revulsion was immediate, calling to mind Al Jolson singing “Mammy” in blackface nearly a hundred years ago.

But what about seeing a black man in whiteface?

What about seeing a black President of the United States in whiteface?

And what if that insult emanated not from a meaningless talent show down under but from the Republican National Committee’s (RNC) official fundraising presentation.

CON GAMES: Conservative Crack-Up

Who knew? Who knew that Scott Brown’s election to the Teddy seat in the United States Senate would break open the slush of bipartisanship? But hey, as Peter Gammons used to say in The Boston Globe, a guy’s got to eat, and not even a flopper like Brown can avoid the need to vote for jobs in his home state of Massachusetts.

What’s going on here? as Dick Young used to say in the Daily News.

Wealth, Economy, Bailouts and Tea.

It seems as though we as Americans have forgotten or never knew what wealth is. So a simple question; Is wealth trillions of dollars stacked to the moon and back or is it factories, bridges, schools, an educated populace, houses, cars, roads, buildings, fields of wheat, sewers, rails, docks, shipyards, airports and power grids? I realize there is a convertability, but what is wealth?

One the groups above is essentially paper or digital accounting and the other represents economy or the products of an economy. If any one out there disagrees with this, I surely would like to understand why and what you consider wealth to be. I just want to understand.

Paper that is convertable by agreement, into wealth has been handed to people whom appear to have created very little of what I call wealth, through the bailout. For a few decades these individuals have been allowed and even cheered on when they have been given the skimmings of the economy. The justification of giving these individuals over many years tens of millions of dollars per year escapes me. Dead weight skimming paper convertable into wealth appears to me to be a fundamental problem in our country at least. For instance, I am not aware of a single insurance executive providing health care. Why do these execs get ten times the pay of an M.D. without having to pay malpractice insurance?

Why does the working man of the Tea Party support this, or just beginning to complain? Where were they when they were being left with the tax burden, because of tax cuts to the rich and famous? Where were these people 2 years ago, 4 years ago, 6 years ago, 8 years ago?

The Tea Party is justifiably angry with government, but dependant on mythological pathos for a foundation. I see them as potential liberals, because if they get informed the fact that they have principles will guide them into the liberal camp. On the other hand, I think they will become very frustrated by the unprincipled Republican stance. I have in my life, never seen a more unprincipled group claiming to be a party, supposedly representing something -- what I have no idea.

CON GAMES: The Conspiratorial Style In American Politics

To understand the appeal of the Tea Party movement, a pundit need go no further than the assassination of President John F. Kennedy—or whomever, dude.

A Brief Check List for Political Parties!

Edward Troy

A brief check list for political parties!

If you are Republican;

1) Who proposed it -- not what was proposed. "What" is utterly irrelevant.

2) Make sure you say "no," whether you know or not, what you are saying "no" too.

3) Know the difference between; know no and no know, in the presence of Democrats.

If you are Tea Party;

wun) doo you speak american?

tew) yur a leeder and a leecher (oui) wee hate you. (if you don't get it, this is your party and you can cry if you want to)

If you are Democrat;

1) First find common ground with other parties --

(a) Does the sun rise in the East and set in the West?

(b) If I drop your bowling ball from five feet high on your big toe, will it hurt?

2) Offer spell check to the other parties.

3) Argue with other Dems about including other parties in discussions.

4) Make sure you become reviled, because decisions require consensus and acclamation.

Well there you have it. A brief check list for all who are political!

CON GAMES: Know Nothing Party Knows How To Say No

In politics, to quote Yogi Berra: You don’t know nothin’—and that goes double for the Know Nothing Party.

The Grand Old Party, formerly known as “Republican,” has now officially adopted the “Just Say No” mantra in a way that not even Nancy Reagan could be proud of.

CON GAMES: Do Tell About Military Spending

The charade pertaining to gays in the military—I love you, man!—is all but over, but in the meantime military apologists on the right and the left need never ask nor tell about the elephantiasis of untouchable defense spending.

Peace in the New Year

It’s been one year since Israel attacked Gaza, killing over fourteen hundred people, wounding thousands, displacing 60,800 civilians and damaging 17,000 homes, resulting in Jewish South African judge Richard Goldstone finding Israel guilty of war crimes and human rights violations. In the last year, Israel has prevented the Palestinian people from rebuilding their homes, businesses, and infrastructure, causing a humanitarian crisis the likes of which the world has never seen.

White Noise From The Right

Some weeks ago I decided on-air to boycott conservative talk in both its radio and television forms and I've never felt better about a political decision in my life. As a talker, that decision has cost me a couple listeners on "Con Games" but it's been worth it because I no longer have to contend with the white noise of conservatism.

The concept of white noise makes total sense to me in more ways than one. You have the obvious and initial notion that the rabid blather of conservatism, heard in its purest form in millions of homes across America, cannot be parsed into dissectable, understandable waveforms. There's very little insight and meaning to be had but there is non-stop noise galore: the bleating of those who see none of what ails the world as their fault.

Uncle Joe

If Sen Lieberman, the most arrogant narcissistic Senator since Bob Kerrey, is the 60th vote needed for health care, he'll vote against it. If there are others such as Nelson, Landrieu who vote against it, he'll vote for it. This after his filibuster threat, a one man tyranny against democracy. Lieberman is against the expansion of medicare that he suggested about a month ago. Lieberman will no doubt use the filibuster, something he railed against in the nineties if he is the last one needed. The man is pure self adulation. You can hear him now: "It's all about me! The lights please. The lights here please. The mike please! I am relevant! Important. Oh, how all of you love my ego! Do petition me. I am adored."

That's our Uncle Joe!
