The Con Man counter-attacks on those who would criticize Michelle Obama for her "proud" comments about the United States, and those who believe my country right or wrong is the apostle's creed.

The Con Man spanks conservative radio talk show host Dennis Prager for his contention that "racist" liberals believe African-Americans are "inferior."

In comment #22, Post blogger Star Eagle has nothing but praise for Presidential also-ran, Mike Gravel: "I checked out the Mike Gravel website since I spent some time with him on Monday and like his spunk... I had worn my John Lennon 'Power to the People' t-shirt in honor of his earlier video playing off of that song. He said the kid (15 I think) who does his videos had done another and it was coming out any day. Damn!! This one blows me away. Check it out for yourselves. The kid is creative. Don't miss the very last little video in the line of videos below. It is easy to miss because it is placed two spaces after the last easily visible one of Jerry Ford. This one also rings of true to the post above and shows Dr. King was a complex man and not just anybodies poster-child. Hence, a bullet."

The Con Man attacks those who would attack Michelle Obama for saying: "For the first time in my adult life, I'm proud of my country"--and he decries the false, faux patriots who believe slavish devotion to the government equals patriotism.

Ah the reverend Wright and Ayers (I think that is how it is spelled) along with the good old Weather Underground my my. Poor Obama, what an association. I guess one can imagine Washington, Jefferson, Henry, Paine, Franklin and Adams wanting to have tea instead of throwing a tea party in our world of greatly reduced expectations for the vision of America. Sometimes saying the truth certainly in a venomous way shouldn't be done (Wright). Obviously, doing the things that our founding fathers did in the name of truth justice and the American way shouldn't be done either (Weather Underground using some very rough tactics going against a morally bankrupt government over Viet Nam and civil rights). Examining the veracity of what was said (not all wrong but wrongly said) and why what was done (bombings to stop the Viet Nam War where 57,000+ Americans and 5million Vietnamese died for some idiot reason) is horrifying is beyond reason unless the Nuremburg defense of taking orders suffices. I mean can anyone tell me, point to a map or something or anything to show what was gained in Viet Nam??

America has had much to reflect upon during the approach of the interrelated 40th anniversaries of the final report of the Kerner Commission, the assassination of the Rev. Martin Luther King Jr., and the round of riots that followed in Washington, Baltimore, Chicago and well over 100 other cities across the nation. We have heard Sen. Barack Obama's insightful speech on race and the reactions it provoked. Today, unfortunately, Dr. King's dream remains deferred.
Former senator Fred R. Harris and I are the two surviving members of President Lyndon Johnson's National Advisory Commission on Civil Disorders (the formal name of the commission chaired by then-Illinois Gov. Otto Kerner). Our commission concluded that black frustration grew out of underrepresentation in the political system, the police, the media and all other aspects of American life. We urged new investments in jobs, schools and housing. We declared that poverty, inequality and segregation in the racial ghetto had created a destructive environment totally unknown to most white Americans.

Ordinarily, I don’t give a whole lot of credence to a presidential candidate’s religion. I didn’t do so with Mitt Romney, and I was prepared to do the same for everyone else in the race. Then I heard Barack Obama’s preacher, Reverend Dr. Jeremiah Wright, say things that polarize people on the basis of race. For example, Wright once said, referring to the injustice of slavery, “All of America’s wealth today could not adequately compensate for centuries of exploitation and humiliation.” He’s right. How do you analyze human indignity in monetary terms? Of course you can't. But exactly where is Wright taking this?...

For the past 20 years and today, presidential candidate Barack Obama attended(s) a Chicago church where Pastor Jeremiah Wright rails against our country by stating in his sermons, “Instead of God bless America, I say, God d**** America.”
With the pews packed, Wright’s vitriolic orations ring to the rafters and black American church-goers cheer, clap and sing against their own country. The venom expressed inside those church walls contradicts everything Jesus Christ expressed in his ministry. Jesus called for forgiveness, understanding, respect and love of your fellow man.
Yet, in the United States, a country populated by people from over 100 countries, Wright condemns everything American.

When Lyndon Johnson signed the Civil Rights Act of 1964 and initiated the arduous, too-long-in-coming eradication of Jim Crow laws, I was four years old. Whether a part of my nature or a function of the ideas poured into the blank slate of my nascent mind, as far back as I can remember the idea of owning another human being has been as much of an anathema as the idea that skin color is a basis for a meaningful difference...

ASPEN, COLORADO (Post Time News)--Local Aspen columnist Gary Hubbell either struck a chord or rang a bell with his piece entitled: "In election 2008, don’t forget Angry White Man."
"Here is one group no one has recognized," he writes, "and it is the group that will decide the election: the Angry White Man. The Angry White Man comes from all economic backgrounds, from dirt-poor to filthy rich. He represents all geographic areas in America, from urban sophisticate to rural redneck, deep South to mountain West, left Coast to Eastern Seaboard."His common traits are that he isn’t looking for anything from anyone — just the promise to be able to make his own way on a level playing field. In many cases, he is an independent businessman and employs several people. He pays more than his share of taxes and works hard."

Senator Barack Obama voted for the June 2007 immigration amnesty that would have doubled current immigration levels to two million annually. He voted for complete amnesty for in excess of 20 million illegal aliens. He voted for the Dream Act that took hundreds of millions of dollars out of the hands of black American college kids' hands— only to give it to illegal alien students. Fortunately, senators under enormous pressure from American voters – defeated both bills, over and over again.
