"The latent and endemic bigotry as bad as it is," writes Post blogger Edward Troy in comment #3, "is a mask for deeper economic troubles the bigots refuse to acknowledge and then address. The scape goating bigotry covers the voting based on the pathos of the strong silent simple minded morons who voted for a party based on one thing they were told through implied rumor; the republican party was for the "white working man." This stupid myth was dismissed by those who wanted the best person in contention for the job."

"It struck me as I watched Obama give his acceptance speech," writes Post blogger reckless G, "that now African Americans must truly be seen as Americans."

"Well done, my friend," Post blogger B. Jon Traylor writes in comment #1 to Ed Troy. "Within weeks in the 7th grade, that brother of another color and I became very good friends.'

When Lyndon Johnson signed the Civil Rights Act of 1964 and initiated the arduous, too-long-in-coming eradication of Jim Crow laws, I was four years old. Whether a part of my nature or a function of the ideas poured into the blank slate of my nascent mind, as far back as I can remember the idea of owning another human being has been as much of an anathema as the idea that skin color is a basis for a meaningful difference...

ASPEN, COLORADO (Post Time News)--Local Aspen columnist Gary Hubbell either struck a chord or rang a bell with his piece entitled: "In election 2008, don’t forget Angry White Man."
"Here is one group no one has recognized," he writes, "and it is the group that will decide the election: the Angry White Man. The Angry White Man comes from all economic backgrounds, from dirt-poor to filthy rich. He represents all geographic areas in America, from urban sophisticate to rural redneck, deep South to mountain West, left Coast to Eastern Seaboard."His common traits are that he isn’t looking for anything from anyone — just the promise to be able to make his own way on a level playing field. In many cases, he is an independent businessman and employs several people. He pays more than his share of taxes and works hard."

Senator Barack Obama voted for the June 2007 immigration amnesty that would have doubled current immigration levels to two million annually. He voted for complete amnesty for in excess of 20 million illegal aliens. He voted for the Dream Act that took hundreds of millions of dollars out of the hands of black American college kids' hands— only to give it to illegal alien students. Fortunately, senators under enormous pressure from American voters – defeated both bills, over and over again.

The nice thing about not formulating your prognostications outside the inelastic waistband of the Beltway is you don’t have to listen to all the same people saying all the same things at all the same parties. You don’t have to listen at all to pronouncements about Hillary Clinton’s “inevitability” or what the American people really want.
Instead, you get to actually listen to what the candidates are saying—and what they are saying actually matters.
That explains why I’ve been saying from the beginning that Barack Obama is going to win the Democratic nomination for President, and that he will become the next President of the United States come fall.

That title so invites double entendre. Ok, so this was the first film and I have already cast my "vote" for Best Picture, Best Director, Best Actor and supporting Actor. What a rich, heart-warming and extremely well done film. I love the underdog and Wiley College in East Texas during the depression is definitely the underdog on the national collegiate debate scene. Denzel Washington directs and costars with Forest Whitaker. The other cast members, unknown to me, were perfectly cast and we will see more of them I'm certain or at least hope.
I am not going to tell you the story here, only that it is a remarkable story and beautifully championed subject and film. So many controversies are touched upon and delicately handled. From racism to socio-economics and politics. This film models integrity and is an example in itself!
You must see "The Great Debaters." It will warm your heart on a cold winter's eve and make you a better person for having seen it.
Next on my list, Sunday night is, "Lust, Caution" the much anticipated new project from Ang Lee of "Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon" and more recently, "Brokeback Mountain" fame. I can't wait, the momentum is almost out of control and it is only day three of the 2007 AspenFilm Academy Screenings.
Check the schedule online at aspenfilm.org, call or stop by the Wheeler Opera House 970-920-5770 or get tickets online at aspenshowtickets.com.
See you at the movies.

Yeh Ling Ling is the executive director of Diversity Alliance for a Sustainable America (DASA). Ms. Yeh founded DASA in response to her growing concern that mass-immigration-driven population growth was driving the U.S. to un-sustainability.
An immigrant herself, more recently she has become focused on Mexico’s use of legal and illegal immigration to further it’s imperial interests. Her 2006 Examine Mexico's Real Intent Before Reforming Immigration appeared in The Record, a publication at the Harvard Law School. In the article she addresses her concerns, which caused more than a ruffle in the quarters of some U.S.-based Mexican irredentists—the “take back our stolen lands” crowd.
Yeh Ling Ling will be interview on KNFO’s Con Games, on Wednesday, Oct. 24, between 8AM-9AM.

The way the world works is that liberals look forward and conservatives look back.
That explains why conservatives always speak of “fundamentals” and practice the politics of necrophilia when it comes to the iconic Ronald Reagan. That also explains why the right is floundering/flailing as they try to wrap themselves in the flag, honk about the vaguest notion of “freedom,” and cheapen the idea that America is somehow safer despite (a) the rise of al-Qaeda; and (b) the plain fact that Osama bin Ladin is still on the lam.

During the final days of his presidency, Bill Clinton signed into law Executive Order 13166. Under that far-reaching order, any entity that receives federal funds, including state, county and local governments, must provide translations upon demand in any language a person wishes to conduct business, with the costs of translators and translations carried by the providers, private and public.

According to Katie Couric, Brian Williams and Charles Gibson, the United States surpassed 300,000,000 people in October 2006. Their current demographic predictions, based on immigration-driven growth levels, show America adding 100 million people by 2040. (Source: Fogel/Martin March 2006 “US Population Projections for 2050)
For those asleep at the wheel—that’s 33 years from now—a blink in time.
To place this kind of horrific growth rate into perspective, it resembles a “Human Tsunami.”

Readers of this column chastise me for not addressing what’s really happening to Colorado and America. They accuse me of dancing around the elephant in the kitchen. They want me to spell it out, to expose it, to say it like it really is. Here is what is happening to our country.
If you read about what happened in Broomfield yesterday in a Spanish class where a student chanted, “White power, white power,” you’re seeing responses, not to legal immigrants, but to the massive and unending illegal alien migration into Colorado and the rest of our nation. Illegal aliens force their language onto Colorado. It's wrong! It's against the law! Of course, you're going to see various responses erupt! You’re also watching the incremental breakdown of our cohesiveness as a nation. The philosopher Kant said, “The two great dividers are religion and language.”
